I live in the neighborhood. This single shop here ruins the neighborhood well-being in many ways.
It is disrupting for the traffic, tourists waiting or eating outside the premise uses the whole sidewalk, which causes pedestrians to have to walk in the street, causing congestion, bikes rings being heard all the time, cars and motorbike having to go in noisy low gears or to beap. The crew outside is not enough to control the crowds, what is more, they scream names of orders, or to call people waiting in the bridge to get closer. Every 30 seconds you can hear them screaming, even from half a block away.
They also makes the neighborhood extremely dirty, as turist will trash their potatoe box and wooden forks everywhere. As it also attracts seagull, bikes and cars get dirty by these birds. I've seen some poor seagulls trying to eat the cardboard from a box of potatoes.
I sincerely hope they can soon move somewhere else, as it damages Amsterdam and the inmediate neighborhood
Please also consider that all the houses in this neighborhood are monumental housings with single glasing, which means almost 0 noise isolation for the street. This means that everyone living in the street is constantly hearing the noisese this shop, workers and their customers produces every day, incluiding weekends, from midday to 8 pm. It is literal, a living hell of constant perturbations and...
Read moreFabel: Fries Elevated to a Gourmet Experience At Fabel, fries are no longer just a street food—they’re elevated to a glorified root. This place offers a unique twist on the beloved Dutch snack, turning it into a crispy delicacy that’s worth every bite.
The decor of Fabel is stunning, with an atmosphere that’s modern, sleek, and immaculately clean, setting the perfect tone for the meal. These fries are far from the chunky style you’d expect from other spots in Amsterdam—check out my other reviews for a comparison. Instead, Fabel opts for thinner, crispier fries that are topped with decadent truffle mayonnaise and grated parmesan cheese. It’s a combination that elevates fries into something much more refined and indulgent.
This place isn’t trying to compete with the traditional fry spots in the city; it’s going in a completely different direction and it’s definitely worth trying. If you’re looking for a unique fry experience, this is the spot.

Read moreomg a MUST try! I say this as someone who doesn’t even really like fries. I got fries with Parmesan and truffle mayo. The fries were well seasoned, crunchy, and full of potato flavour and cooked all the way through. They stood up well to all the sauce and didn’t get soggy at all. There was a generous heap of Parmesan, and the pungent salty cheese cut right through the truffle mayo, which was umami and creamy without being overwhelming. The entire thing was just a delicious indulgence, and I ended up getting it twice in one day. I know I’ll be dreaming of them long after I’ve left Amsterdam. Highly highly...
