Seafood Bistro is located in the central area of Amsterdam. During my recent visit, I decided to try their Mussel classic, which was cooked with butter and white wine. While the experience had its highlights, there were a few shortcomings that prevented it from reaching its full potential.
Starting with the positives, the location of Seafood Bistro in the heart of Amsterdam makes it easily accessible and convenient for both locals and tourists. The restaurant itself has a cozy and inviting ambiance, creating a pleasant atmosphere for diners.
Turning to the Mussel classic, I had high expectations, having previously tried a similar dish in Brussels. Unfortunately, the version at Seafood Bistro did not quite live up to my previous experience. The taste lacked the desired creaminess that is often associated with this classic dish. The sauce seemed to be missing that velvety texture and depth of flavor. Additionally, I found the overall saltiness of the dish to be slightly overpowering, which detracted from the enjoyment.
Another disappointment was the freshness of the mussels. While most of the mussels were satisfactory, there were a few pieces that fell short in terms of freshness. Discovering such pieces in a kilogram of mussels was disappointing and affected my overall dining experience.
Despite these shortcomings, it's worth noting that Seafood Bistro does offer a variety of other seafood options on their menu. Perhaps exploring different dishes could yield a more enjoyable culinary experience.
In conclusion, Seafood Bistro in Amsterdam's central area has its merits with a convenient location and a pleasant ambiance. However, the Mussel classic fell short of expectations, lacking the desired creaminess and being overly salty. Furthermore, the presence of a few less-than-fresh mussels was disheartening. While Seafood Bistro may have potential, improvements are needed to ensure consistency and quality across all aspects of the...
Read moreThis is one of the restaurants that I would commend for their cleanliness and overall neatness. From the entry, to the table settings, the arrangement of the bar and the presentation of food, the way chefs and servers present themselves. The hygiene aspect of it is top class!
The food doesn not disappoint either! We had a kilo of mussels in Roquefort sauce. I was so glad it was cleaned well. The last time i ate it in Normandy, I could feel sand in my mouth so i'm always cautious about eating mussels in restaurants.
A seafood pasta Marinara and fish and chips. I was a bit worried the sauce might be a bit sour but I was suprised, the combination of ingredients was great! The taste was not overpowering and it was a delight to eat, I didn't feel it was too heavy a meal.
The fish and chips were not my favorite since I am not a fan of whitefish. But it was fresh and the batter was not oily.
We didn't try their alcoholic drinks. We stuck with water and some iced teas.
But overall, food, staff and ambience is great.
I feel that there are too many options of restaurants in the area so they get overlooked sometimes but I see them full during dinners too so maybe its best to check and book if you want to go for...
Read more1 big start!!! I would put -1 if it would be possible.
I ordered myself a grilled dorado, which arrived half raw inside, fish wad pink (unfortunately i made no photo, was in shock), when I called a waitress and said that my fish is pink because it is raw the woman made that unpleasant tone on her face like I would be a picky client and took it in silence. My fish was baked in the oven again and returned back, but no any apology to my side, was no offered a discount or any compliment from the restaurant. All night i wasn't sleeping, i was with severe pain in the stomach vomiting and diarrhea, and I'm not drinking alcohol person and take no any other substances! I eat healthy person! I would not recommend this place even for...
