Café Hill Street Blues — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place to any tourists. Our waitress tried to steal from us twice.

We sat at a table with a server instead of going to the bar for service. We bought 2 drinks and paid with 50 euros expecting about 36 euros in change. Instead, the waitress only gave us the 6 euros back and claimed that she didn’t have enough change and she would bring the rest back shortly. We waited about 30 awkward minutes before confronting her about the missing change again and this time she said that we had given her 20 euros instead of 50, and she didn’t owe us any change. After a brief argument she gave the money back. We left immediately because the experience was so uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, we were in such a rush to get out of this place that we left a shopping bag behind at our table. We realized the mistake less than 10 minutes after leaving and quickly went back to retrieve it. The bag wasn’t in the lost-and-found and our waitress acted like she had no idea what we were talking about. Long story short, she had stolen the bag off the table and stashed it with her personal belongings behind the bar. She only relented and gave it back after multiple other customers sitting at a nearby table realized what was happening and intervened in the situation to confirm that they’d literally WATCHED her take the bag off the table after we left the first time.

Go somewhere else that hires honest staff that aren’t looking to...

Went in last night with few friends It started off all good great coctails moved the seat from where the bar is to the back bit where you can smoke then went into SEPARATE TOILET with my friend (there was other people in there too) and got accused on the way back from this lady that I did something illegal she was sure she had it on the camera I wanted her to show me what have I done wrong tried to tell me to leave well she was sure that security is on the way I didn't leave of course I had nothing to hide. An hour later, I asked her again if everything is okay about this misunderstanding but no she was sure that I was in the wrong but hey im still sitting in your bar anyway I didn't want to post this but after trying to be civil and just wanting her explanation about her false accusations she didn't apologise or anything. The other staff were great hope you can see it and not make same false accusations or if you do and you're in the wrong just simply apologise...

I've been going to this bar for 4 years but lately there's a blonde waitress at the bar. You walk in and she yells at you that the downstairs is closed. You sit upstairs and she doesn't come to take your order but you have to approach her yourself. That wouldn't be a problem if when you walked in she said, "Hello guys, I'm alone please order at the bar." But that's not the case when you approach her she's talking on her phone she doesn't look at you in the face and you have to wait for her to decide to pay attention to you because I'm more polite than her and I don't want to interrupt her phone conversation. You order two cappuccinos, normally they bring them with a cookie and sugar, she didn't serve either of those things and she didn't bring it to the table either, we had to go get it. I repeat it's not a problem the problem is the manners if she doesn't like working there she should go somewhere else in Amsterdam there's...
