Unfortunately I have to give two stars. We have been to multiple omakase’s in Amsterdam and this experience was not worth the €140 we paid per person.
To begin the omakase room was not ready at the time of reservation but that was not an huge problem as the staff were friendly.
Once the room was ready we could sit where ever we wanted and got an explanation of the drinks. We ordered a bottle of water and sake. To our surprise we got a plastic bottle of spa and only one glass (which was also chipped). We had to ask for an extra glass, which in the end was not even the same design.
In the meanwhile the omakase already started without our notice. The chef was not introduced, neither was the food. The chef did say what each dish was as he served out the dishes. The food itself was delicious, but all tasted quite the same. Unfortunately there was no wow factor and only two dishes were memorable.
We also saw the kitchen staff watching soccer on a phone, which is highly unprofessional. So I advise they correct the curtains so that there is no view of the kitchen. The downstairs toilet was also not clean…
All in all we were very disappointed with the experience and don’t think the price we paid is fair in comparison with service and experience. Unfortunately we...
Read moreI recently dined at Shigura and the experience was memorable with food that truly impressed in quality.
There are, however, areas that could enhance the overall experience. Notably, the reservation system could be more accommodating. Guests, often arriving a bit early, should not have to wait outside, particularly in the cold. It detracts from the high-end experience one anticipates considering the price point. On another note, while the sake pairing was exceptional, the inclusion of a non-alcoholic pairing option would greatly complement the culinary journey for those who prefer or require it. Receiving a non-alcoholic beverage in a plastic cup with a large paper straw at a restaurant of this caliber was unexpected.
In summary, Shigura delivers an outstanding dining adventure, though attention to these details would elevate the experience to match the excellence of...
Read moreSushi Fanatics offers an intimate dining experience with its omakase concept, hosting 8 spaces at the chef's table and it is called Shigure. The 20-course menu, complemented by unlimited sake refills, takes you on a culinary journey. The chef's passion is evident in every dish, with fresh ingredients and a professional touch. The host's attentiveness add to the warmth of the experience. Each bite, marked by the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the fish, is truly incredible. The inclusion of real wasabi gives the sushi an extra kick, a rarity in the Netherlands. This culinary adventure transported me to Asia, making it a craving-worthy experience in Europe. Reserving a spot is essential, as they are consistently fully booked, but keep an eye on their Instagram stories for cancellations. Without a doubt, it's the best fish sushi omakase menu in Amsterdam, prepared...
