Visited Amsterdam from New Orleans in the US. Great little place I found when I was recommended Surinamese food by a local friend. The man who took my order was really kind and suggested the chicken roti. The roti was great! A little bit flaky and chewy. And the chicken dish with the potatoes and green beans was exactly was I needed in that moment. Really comforting food that fills the soul. Recommend adding the yellow pepper hot sauce to the roti before scooping up some of the chicken and sauce. It balanced out the savory curried sauce with a bit of fresh, sweet spicyness. Only happened to pass by on our mission to feed our hunger and was honestly taken aback. The food was piping hot and so delicious. Big portion, everything well seasoned and flavorful. I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, the owner made me uncomfortable by asking intrusive personal questions while I was placing my order. During checkout, I was unexpectedly told that an additional $1.50 would be added to each set because the menu prices were "not correct"—a clear example of false advertising.
