Tucked away in Amsterdam’s vibrant streets, Catuabar is a hidden gem that delivers far more than just a meal — it’s a full sensory experience. With its cosy, vintage-meets-industrial vibe and spotless interiors, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between laid-back and elevated. From the moment we walked in, we were seated within seconds, setting the tone for an evening of seamless hospitality. While I can’t recall the exact name of the dish I ordered (I’ve attached a photo), I do remember how it made me feel — the flavor was complex, layered, and full of discovery. The standout? The entire experience. Each plate was thoughtfully composed, and Bianca, one of the staff members, showed incredible attention to detail, especially around dietary restrictions — a rarity that made a big impression. The setting was undeniably romantic, ideal for a date night, or a quiet celebration. As for value, the experience felt well worth the price — not just for the quality of the food, but for the ambience and service. We’re already planning to go back, this time to try the 6-course tasting menu and dive deeper into what looked like an infinite cocktail list. In short: Catuabar’s cuisine is packed with personality and soul. If I could give it more than five stars, I would.

Extraordinary Dining and Cocktails in Amsterdam Catuabar is a unique cocktail bar and restaurant blending flavors from Brazil 🇧🇷 and South Africa 🇿🇦. Chef Gui and Mixologist Alex, both experienced professionals from top global restaurants, collaborate to create exceptional dishes 🍽️ and signature cocktails 🍸. Saskia manages the restaurant, bringing extensive hospitality experience ✨. Using fresh, local ingredients, Catuabar offers a sensory dining experience with innovative pairings and a curated wine list, including natural wines 🍷. The dishes we tried at Catuabar are some of the best we’ve had in our lives—we can’t recommend this place enough 🙌. A new cocktail pairing experience is set to launch at the end of June 2024 and is not to be missed 🍹. ✅ Well prepared and delicious food ✅ Fresh ingredients ✅ Gluten-free, veggie and vegan options ✅ Friendly and attentive staff ✅ Excellent quality 🍽️ What we had: - Tapioca Dice - Lazy Hunter - Daisy Duck - Heart to Earth - Cru-will-do - Grandma’s House - Just a Pineapple 💸 €80-90 p.p. 📍Amsterdam Oost 🔝 Follow us on Instagram for THE BEST places to eat and drink in Amsterdam!

People talk about hidden gems all the time but Catua Bar is THE REAL HIDDEN GEM in Amsterdam. The atmosphere is cozy, lush and dim. Not only it is one of the seriously best cocktail bars in Amsterdam but also it makes fine dining level food. We went for the 6-course menu with cocktail pairings, and it was an incredible journey of flavors and creativity. Each course was beautifully presented, and the fusion of South American and South African influences brought something truly unique to the table. The cocktails were the perfect match for the dishes, enhancing the overall experience. You can tell the team puts a lot of thought into the pairings. Every sip and bite felt like a harmonious blend of innovation and tradition. The ambiance is cozy yet stylish, making it a great spot for a special evening. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, walking us through the menu and cocktails with genuine passion. This is not just a meal—it’s an experience. Highly recommend the 6-course menu if you want to indulge and discover something new in Amsterdam. I’ll definitely be back!

CatuaBar is quite an unusual place, that you wouldn't except to find here in Oost. It feels like a New-York style speakeasy, intimate and stylish, with a vibrant combination of food & drinks. The cocktails only are already definitely worth the journey, in our case 5 km by bike, because they are so different from all the same boring stuff you see everywhere now. And they are specifically designed to also match the food. The food is a fusion of Brazilian with, among others Peruvian, French and South-African elements. The tapioco dice with chutney are to die for. The barmenu has many other choices like the lovely choripan. The mains are just brilliant and I can't say what my favourite is; either the roasted celeriac, the beef heart (yes, true and such a good dish) or the spicy raw yellow tail with hibiscus and chulpe. There are two desserts and we took both of them, what a happy finish they brought us. There is a small but interesting wine list with enough wines by the glass to create good pairings. This was, so far, the best and most creative meal of 2024. Keep up the good work and we will...
