If you're looking for an authentic Indian dining experience in Amsterdam, look no further than Taj Indian Restaurant in Pijp. This cozy and welcoming restaurant offers a menu that is full of flavor and character, making it a must-visit spot for any foodie.

From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a world of spices and aromas. The decor is traditional yet chic, with colorful accents and warm lighting creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you walk in the door.

The menu at Taj Indian Restaurant is extensive, with a wide range of dishes to choose from. From classic favorites like butter chicken and lamb rogan josh to more adventurous dishes like pani puri and masala dosa, there's something for everyone. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality, and the spices are carefully selected to create a perfect balance of flavors.

One of the standout dishes at Taj Indian Restaurant is the tandoori chicken. This dish is cooked to perfection in the traditional tandoor oven, resulting in a juicy and flavorful chicken with a crispy exterior. It's served with a side of mint chutney and naan bread, making for a perfect and satisfying meal.

Another highlight of the menu is the biryani. This classic Indian rice dish is cooked with a variety of spices and vegetables, and can be ordered with chicken, lamb, or shrimp. The portions are generous and the flavors are perfectly balanced, making for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

What truly sets Taj Indian Restaurant apart, however, is the attention to detail and the hospitality of the staff. The waiters are attentive and friendly, and are always happy to make recommendations based on your preferences. They make sure that every dish is cooked to perfection and that every customer leaves satisfied.

In addition to the great food and welcoming atmosphere, Taj Indian Restaurant also offers an affordable dining experience. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous, making it a great spot for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic night out.

Overall, Taj Indian Restaurant in Pijp is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Indian dining experience in Amsterdam. The menu is extensive, the ingredients are fresh and of high quality, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or just starting to explore its rich flavors, you won't be disappointed by what Taj Indian Restaurant has to offer. Book your table today and prepare to be transported to a world of...

I typically refrain from writing reviews on Google following visits to restaurants, but my experience at this particular restaurant was so uniquely unpleasant & awful that I felt compelled to share. The hotel staff or manager or owner (who so ever he was) exhibited extreme unfriendliness that spoiled the entirety of my visit.

Here are the key issues that I encountered:

The staff imposed pressure on us to order additional food items, despite our clear preference for a light dinner. We had opted for 2 side dishes and 3 breads, but the owner or manager insisted that we order more. This unnecessary insistence made us uncomfortable, and we couldn't discern the reason behind it.

Upon receiving the bill totalling 28.75, we attempted to pay using a card, only to be informed that card payments were not accepted for such 'small' amounts under 30. We were pressed to pay in cash instead, which struck us as unreasonable. This was nowhere mentioned before ordering food or highlighted in the menu. Also, no digital receipt was produced. This should be made clear upfront such that we would have opted to dine somewhere else as we don't carry cash during our travel as everyone accepts card payment in the whole world.

In my extensive travels to over 100 cities worldwide, I have never encountered such behaviour from restaurant staff or owners. Typically, hospitality industry professionals are supportive, humble, and respectful of guests' choices, refraining from coercive tactics and judgmental comments.

Please treat the customer with more respect ! And make your rules clear upfront so that they can make their decisions 😏

It was our biggest mistake to visit this restaurant after seeing 4.4...

we ordered 6-7 different curries, 5 different starters and few other dishes

I am writing this with only one intention to make it known to everyone that if you want to eat Indian flavour food then this is not the place.

Mutton curry had pieces of mutton which was not properly cooked, these could have been cooked for 10 more minutes, curry was like a novice has prepared it. So called specialty of theirs, Chicken tikka masala had sweetish flavour as well, not at all expected. Curry of Chicken karai was flat…chicken karai is supposed to be full of flavours and curry tasted like it is coming from a ready to cook packet. Dal makhni was average Paneer butter masala was also average Mutton biryani( beware: it is not biryani at all) some rice fried with mutton pieces( which are half cooked and partially cooked, which makes it impossible to chew) Seek kebab: it was salty…i could only taste salt in it but it was properly cooked. Butterfly prawns: oily, deep fried prawns again missing spices, flavours Chicken tikka: lame, just pure lame chicken tikka…half cooked Onion bhajji were laughable, we had to leave most of it. Garlic naan was good.

Overall i would never recommend this place to anyone under no circumstances. There are way better places to eat indian food.

Portion size and their prices do not match. And the waiter kept on saying that this will not be enough and then we ordered almost 9 gravy for 9 people and then we had a lot of left overs. Very uptight service, please order all the main course at once and they will also bring it at once, They cannot hold the two biryanis for 10 minutes after bringing our main course so that we could have that...

Great place to have Indian food in Amsterdam. We accidentally found this place after completing the Heineken experience. The restaurant is 2-3 mins walk from Heineken experience or one can take tram 24 from Amsterdam central station and get down at Marie Heineken. We loved the food and the service therefore visited twice after our first visit. During our three visits we ordered Butter chicken, chicken Tikka, Aloo paratha, onion kulcha and raita. Their kulfi and kheer are yumlious (both were offered complimentary to us after each meal) Food - 5/5 (Combination of Aloo paratha and raita, combination of chicken Tikka or butter chicken with Aloo paratha... Lip smacking combo's) Service - 10/5 (the service was way beyond expectations and the owner offered us sweet dish complimentary after each meal. Twice we paid the bill and we're walking away the owner came and invited us to have the complimentary sweet dish) Ambience - 5/5 (their outdoor seating is just apt for current weather, at times cloudy and at times sunny. As you sit under the shade you can still experience and enjoy the weather with yumlious food) Tip - If you not hungry and need something to just fill your tummy try the aloo paratha and raita will will cost u less than €10 and still filling. Better than the pizzas n burgers. A special shout out to the owner for great service and food. Amazing Indian food away from India.

It was a happy accident that we found Taj. My friend and I had just finished our tour at the Heineken Experience when it suddenly started pouring rain! Since we were far from our hotel and starting to get hungry, we decided to kill time and wait out the rain by walking to the closest restaurant. Needless to say we were very impressed with the food, the attentive but not overbearing service, and the super cozy atmosphere. We needed something comforting and flavorful, and that's exactly what we got. We ordered the butter paneer as our main dish and the veggie korma as our side, with garlic naan added on. Everything was so, so good. The veggie korma was definitely on the sweeter side, as our server let us know. The butter paneer was creamy and spiced perfectly. The garlic naan was thinner than what I've had before and better for it! It was flakier and went so well with the food we ate. Not shown in my photos was our mango lassis, which were sweet and tangy. A great addition to the meal. I had the best time in Amsterdam and will be coming back. For the city and for Taj!
