Every year, my favorite tradition is to celebrate my birthday at the Amsterdam Seafood Bar, a true gem in the heart of the city. This year was no exception, and I was delighted to return with my dear wife by my side, ready to indulge in the delightful culinary offerings we’ve come to love. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Joao, the location manager, whose hospitality set the tone for the entire afternoon. His dedication to ensuring an exceptional dining experience was evident, and he went above and beyond to make us feel special. Joining him was his equally delightful sister, Marli, whose charm and attention to detail added an extra layer of warmth to our celebration. We started our culinary journey with an exquisite selection of fresh oysters that were a testament to the establishment's commitment to quality. Each oyster was perfectly shucked, bursting with briny goodness, and paired wonderfully with a crisp champagne that elevated the experience to another level. Following the oysters, we savored a magnificent mixed grill and a seafood platter that showcased the best of what the ocean has to offer. The grilled fish was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, while the seafood platter was a stunning display of their freshest catches, allowing us to sample a variety of textures and tastes that left us in absolute bliss. To round out our meal, we couldn’t resist indulging in some delectable desserts. Each dessert was a delight, beautifully presented and rich in flavor, making for a sweet ending to our unforgettable meal. Joao and Marli not only provided exceptional service but also made the atmosphere feel like a special occasion. Their passion for hospitality truly shone through, and they created an environment that made our experience feel uniquely tailored to us. This visit to the Amsterdam Seafood Bar was nothing short of magical, and it reaffirmed why this location holds a special place in our hearts. So this might seem harsh but I think it's fair. We came to dine here as the menu looked amazing (we are all foodies and love seafood). The venue is striking and looks airy and busy! The smell coming from the kitchen was amazing!

We waited a fair while to be seated, but it was busy, and eventually we got round to ordering. We were recommended some lovely wines, all three of us having something different.

We ordered Turbot and a mixed grill with extra lobster. 2 sides of asparagus in parmesan and some crushed garlic potatoes.

Prices weren't too bad and the menu seemed extensive and varied.

The Turbot was a whole fish, nicely presented and my colleagues told me it was fairly good. My mixed grill arrived and I must say I was disappointed. Expecting a vibrant array of prawns, lobster, fish and mussels, instead it looked a bit, well overdone and dark.

The lobster was so over cooked as were the small "cubes" of salmon. Tough and dry and was a bit concerned I only had a knife and fork to attempt this lobster with! Yea, it didn't end well and I gave up trying to get into the claw. No hand wipes either so everything was sticky with residue I couldn't remove with my napkin. The mussels were nice but the prawns/Langoustines were hard and lacking a lot of 'meat', including one which I only received the head!! Greasy, overcooked, dirty is all I can say.

All in all, very disappointed considering the high Google rating they have. Perhaps I had a bad dish, on a bad day, but unfortunately that's what this review is based on.

Sunday, Nov. 12th - I had the pleasure (with a group of 10p) of dining at The Seafood Bar, and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the inviting ambiance and the tantalizing aroma of fresh seafood set the stage for a fantastic meal. The highlight of my evening was undoubtedly the incredible array of dishes that showcased the chef's mastery in preparing delicious seafood. Each bite was a burst of flavor, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Seafood Bar has certainly earned its reputation for serving high-quality, mouthwatering seafood. What made the dining experience even more memorable was the impeccable service provided by waiters Jeroen and Florian. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and genuine passion for ensuring guests have a great time truly stood out. They made sure we felt well taken care of throughout the evening. Behind the scenes, chef Pieter deserves special recognition for his culinary skills.

The Seafood Bar has undoubtedly become a favorite dining destination for me, thanks to its delectable cuisine, warm ambiance, and the outstanding team that goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.
