Taste Like Chicken | TLC — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We walked by Taste Like Chicken in de Pijp in Amsterdam. It’s colourful exterior caught our eye. The place looks nice and clean. Since we are both fans of real and vega chicken we have it a try. We had the truffle burger, the chicka n waffles and the party fries. We were a bit overwhelmed at first because beside the burger it’s quite uncertain what you would get with the specials. The burger was pretty good but the patty was dry. They also forgot the mayo that we ordered. The chicks and waffles was something else. I expected waffles and fake crunchy chicken, but it’s something else. It’s like a dough & fake chicken fusion into a waffle form. This with icecream on top? I’m used to sweet and savoury together, but this was a bit of a weird combo, getting a brain freeze while eating my chicka n waffles was a bit weird, I think I’d rather have whipped cream instead of icecream. But I guess some people like it. If you look at the picture I can’t seem to identify the chicken tenders? I think they forgot?!

Also the party fries were supposed to have 5 types of fries? We could only identify 3 (normal, sweet and waffle). This place has a lot of potential but it felt a bit messy in organisation yet. (Out of cola zero, no mayo served, fries missing). So it’s fair to give some slack since it just opened. If they step up their game, this can be a real gem. I would still recommend to check...

Had dinner here last night with my boyfriend & dog and we all enjoyed it so much! Behind the counter is a private area/booth where you can dine, it’s decorated with a big neon led light, a blue coloured table, neon plates & cutlery, it looks so fun and is SO instagrammable. The rest of the store looks lovely too.

The food was honestly amazing - it really does ‘taste like chicken’: even our chicken-loving dog was fooled. We usually eat meat and loved this. We had the OG burger, Party Box with mixed fries, chicken nuggets and 6 sauces to try, of which our favourites where the cheese, truffle, OG & bbq sauces. To drink we had the chocolate oreo & banana peanut milkshakes, both were amazing.

The staff was lovely - we were served by a girl with pink hair, she was fast, helpful and kind and her hair fit the aesthetic like no other.

First of all: the design of this place is on point. The shop, inside and outside, is so pleasing to the eye, it just makes you want to walk in right away. The packaging also looks so neat. Second: especially with the milkshake (milkfake) and mayonaise with the fries, you simply cannot tell the difference between vegan and non-vegan. That alone I thought was impressive. With the O.G. burger, I think I could tell it was not real chicken, but it is really tasty nonetheless and, in my opinion, much better than all the other vegan/vegetarian options I tried (like Vegan Junk Food Bar). The cheese sauce with the vegan chicken is a good combination. If you're vegan/vegetarian and craving a burger, this is as far as I can tell the best option out there.
