Went here for an early dinner with high hopes but were disappointed. Ordered a mojito, which was one of the worst I’ve had - very sweet and not much rum flavor. On the positive side they did listen when I asked to have only a small amount of ice. Calamari appetizer was OK. My wife had the seafood casserole. It was a reasonable portion. I had the paella for one person and it was a very generous portion. The paella looked very nice & colorful - two mussels, two large shrimp, some baby squid and some pieces of fish. Unfortunately neither of the dishes had much flavor to them. I ended up using some salt, which helped a bit, but it would have helped to have some garlic, pepper and certainly Safran in there. The mussels were also tasteless (preparing them in wine with garlic might have been a good idea). The only thing we really liked were the Spanish potatoes my wife ordered with the casserole. The wait staff were nice, but at times a bit slow (we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time). After we told the waitress that we didn’t want anything else and she’d cleared the table, it took quite some time to get someone’s attention to get the check and then again some time before getting the paper copy to sign. The location is nice - a good place to watch the sunset. The bathrooms were clean but cramped (one toilet seat each for men/women) and super hot (only a fan running - no window). Sad to say - for the prices Perla charges ($112 for 1 appetizer, 1 mojito, 1 bottle of water, the seafood casserole and paella) I would have expected much...
Read moreWe made reservations thinking the reviews were good. We started with Calamari which were tasty but tough. My husband ordered Shrimp Thermador which he enjoyed with a side if rice and salad. I ordered Surf and Turf premium which was beef tenderloin and lobster tail. She explained that the beef is skewered and I wanted it pink. I ordered salad and mashed potatoes. Mine came and the beef was well done and tough the lobster tail is cut up in small pieces mixed with onions and peppers in some kind of sauce over mashed potatoes. This was not described so my side potatoes Sent back. The lobster mixture was over salted and not that great especially when I was looking forward to a lobster tail with butter. She asked about the meal and I explained my disappointment and was offered drinks or desert and we said no thanks because we had desert at home. I expected some compensation but we got nothing. We paid $118 US and it was not worth it. Go get a great meal at the...
Read moreLocated by Wilhelmina Park. Once you work South towards the ocean, this is the first restaurant you'll see on the left.
I had planned to go to Scampi's at the end but it was closed on the day. And del Toro was a bit out of my price range for dinner. So I decided to try Perla del Mar. And I'm really glad that I did
Service for one was surprisingly fast and very attentive for Curacao. So I was very content with it.
Now on to the food. This is the best meat platter I've ever enjoyed the ribs tenderloin with seasoned perfectly and everything else was seasoned just right. You don't even need to dip the sauce but the sauce was very delicious
The seafood platter was also equally delicious. I don't know how you can season each seafood but they did it. The shrimp had its own taste and a very to the mussels having its own taste.
I highly recommend coming here if you want to have good food that you will enjoy and remember. And also come here for the Oceanside...
