UPDATE: Changed from 2 star to 4 star review after the owner responded and said that the service issues have been addressed.
First, if you're a foodie and you have not been to Soi95, definitely go there before going to Zoh. Zoh's rooftop seating is lovely, the plating of their food is great, and for the most part, the food is good (the lamb was delicious, although it varied from rare to medium).
The service is what was lacking from our visit tonight. The interaction with the servers was awkward (I think a combination of language barrier and lack of experience/training). It took them 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us after being seated, and then when they did they didn't offer to bring water until we asked about it after ordering some cocktails. The two appetizers we ordered took about 45 minutes to arrive, and while we know Curacao/island time is different, there was basically not a single interaction or acknowledgement from the wait staff during the wait. Several other things happened such as them delivering our plate to the wrong table.
My wife added chicken to her pasta dish, and there was so little in it that she thought it didn't have any. Turns out there was chicken in it, just such a meager amount that it was not obvious. The male server (the only one who seemed to have experience being a server at this class of restaurant) was kind enough to bring some more chicken on a plate, but sadly it was rubbery and distinctly undercooked. After mentioned that to our main female server, she didn't say anything and almost seemed offended.
Hopefully we just had a bad experience, but from looking at recent negative reviews, it looks like they need some serious effort put into...
Read moreFirst I am going to preface this review by saying Curacao is definitely not a food Mecca of fine dining or service in general. We stumbled upon this restaurant on a Thursday night which is a fun vibe night to be downtown with music playing all around and a fireworks display around 8:15 pm. We considered ourselves lucky grabbing a front row table for four to view fireworks and the activity below. The staff was very kind, both owners Eva and Nathan came out to greet us and insure our comfort. My food, which was the chicken dish was lovely and delicious, I wish there was more lol. My wife had a tuna dish which was also very good alongside a Caesar salad which was quite bland. Nathan was very accepting of criticism which I found very commendable. The downside to eating on this rooftop restaurant is that another rooftop restaurant above them plays there music very, very very loud at least on this Thursday night making the dining experience less than ideal, but since the staff, Eva and Nathan were so kind I will not hold them against this unfortunate setting. So given our other experiences in other restaurants in Curacao I will stand behind a five star rating. Good luck...
Read moreAll dishes from start to finish were heavenly delicious. The bread with herb butter and the African nuts butter hit the spot. My husband and I started off with 3 appetizers: the octopus, the shrimp tartar and the tenderloin carpaccio. All three were AMAZING! We had to try more dishes from their appetizers, so we ordered the pumpkin soup with panchetta and the shrimp tempura. The soup was excellent! For main course we had the lamb and the salmon. The lamb was so tender, cooked to perfection, and it did not have the usual lamb smell that many lamb meats have. You did not even need a knife to remove the meat from bone. For dessert, we had the brownie and the chef's surprise. Both were superb! The service was friendly and profesional. We also liked how the kitchen staff works very organized and quiet, no loud noises or yelling. Best culinary experience in Curaçao, hands down the best food thus far, and we have been to many fine dining amd gourmet restaurants on the island! Value for money! Highly...
