LEEF Restaurant — Restaurant in Delft

We came here for lunch on a busy Saturday, after lunch time to grab something to eat. After sitting down, we found that for lunch they only have sandwiches, some bao buns and empanadas, after checking the website on which when clicking the lunch menu also warm main dishes are listed. We order a portion of bao buns, one toast and two empanadas. We waited for over 40 minutes for these two dishes and when asking about them we were told the empanadas take longer to cook in the oven and that we would need to wait 10 more minutes because the kitchen is busy. There were 2 other tables, one of them arrived after us and got the food faster than us. After fifty minutes we got our food, bao buns being almost cold, definitely not worth the wait. Empanadas tasted rather store bought. They also got our order wrong and instead of the toast we got something else, and ended up waiting another 20 minutes for the correct order. At the end they made us pay 20€ extra for what we did not order, and after asking the money back paying unattentivelu, they told me that if I wanted to get my money back they could only give me cash but I would have to give them the rest of the momey back myself. Definitely not a place I would return to and not one I recommend, there are better lunch places in Delft that offer st least better quality sandwiches and a faster service. Worst restaurant I...

Vandaag besloten mijn partner en ik spontaan een avondje uit te gaan in Delft. Zonder al te veel plannen, belandden we bij LEEF, een restaurant dat me al vaker was aangeraden – en ik snap nu helemaal waarom.

Zodra je binnenstapt, voelt het alsof je even uit de drukte stapt. De sfeer is warm en uitnodigend, met zachte verlichting en een interieur dat ergens tussen modern en huiselijk in zit. We zaten aan een tafeltje bij het raam met uitzicht op de Markt – perfect om mensen te kijken terwijl je wacht op je eerste gerecht.

Wat LEEF bijzonder maakt, is hun concept van shared dining. Je bestelt niet één gerecht voor jezelf, maar meerdere kleine gangen die je samen deelt. We kozen voor het chef’s menu, een negen-gangen verrassing die steeds een glimlach op ons gezicht toverde. Van een zijdezachte zalmtartaar tot perfect gegaarde ossenhaas met truffelsaus – elk gerecht was een plaatje, zowel qua presentatie als smaak.

De bediening was attent maar niet opdringerig. Er werd goed rekening gehouden met mijn allergie (noten), en bij elk gerecht kregen we een korte uitleg – zonder pretentieus te zijn. Wat ik vooral waardeerde, was dat het tempo goed zat: niet te gehaast, maar ook geen lange stiltes tussen de gangen.

Als ik één klein verbeterpuntje moet noemen: de akoestiek kan op een drukke avond iets rumoerig zijn. Maar eerlijk gezegd droeg dat ook weer bij aan de levendige sfeer.

Al met al voelde het diner bij LEEF als een mini-vakantie in eigen land. Heerlijk eten, fijne mensen en een avond die net even anders was dan normaal. Voor wie in Delft is – of er een reden voor zoekt om te gaan – LEEF is absoluut de...

Having dinner here with friends was worthwhile. The location is just as any typical city centre location with difficulty in finding parking on location. The view from where I sat was nice as I gazed across the canal perusing people plying past by boat. The food didn't blow me away but I must say the boneless ribs was superb.
