The reason why I only gave two stars, it’s because the food was quite good but the service especially from the manager was really bad. Yesterday afternoon, my daughter and I went there to have a very late lunch after attending the Open Day at RUG. This was the second time we visited the restaurant but this was the first time for us to have the All you can eat option. We arrived around 3:30 ish pm and we asked the server if we can still have the lunch menu considering it’s almost 4 pm when the dinner menu option begins. We’re told that we still can have the lunch option and since it’s the first time for us to have the all-you-can-eat option, she explained how to order using the tablet and we have 5 rounds order in 2 hours. The food was plenty and after 3 rounds, we decided to finish the rounds by ordering desserts. My daughter asked one of the server if she can have ice cream for desserts. But she was told that it’s not possible since the ice cream is only for the dinner menu option and we should pay more if we wanted the ice cream. So we didn’t order it. Next thing you know, when I asked for the bill, we were charged with the DINNER menu price. When I asked about it, the manager told us that we supposed to leave at 4 pm if we wanted to pay the lunch price. Nobody told us about it when we came and ordered the lunch menu. And it doesn’t make any sense at all to have the All You Can Eat option in less than 30 minutes!! The arrogant manager kept blaming us for not reading the menu on the tablet. Helloooo... we’re not familiar with the system yet, it’s our first time, and the menu is in Dutch! It’s his job to provide clear information to his customers. It’s his job to train his staffs to explain clearly to their customers especially for expatriates like us. It’s not the matter of more money that we had to pay, but we feel like we got scammed. It’s not how to make more money for your restaurant! We’re so disappointed and we won’t come back for sure !! Your manager is so rude and not...
Read moreFood was plenty. We were 4 people but we didn't manage to go further than the 3rd round (out of 5 rounds). Quality of the food is also good. The 2 things I would like to be different are The time limit. When you go there with friends you can't really keep track of time, so we ended up rushing the 3rd round, ordering and eating. It's different when there are only 2 people, then I consider the 2,5 hours enough. I would like an option to include the drinks in the food rounds. We have seen that at other sushi restaurants and it was handy. Here we had to order our drinks extra and they were not included in the all-you can-eat price per person. For 4 ppl, we paid 35€ extra just for the drinks.
Overall experience was good. I would go again if I was...
Read moreThe ordering process and rules have changed since this restaurant is not part of the Sumo franchise anymore. Extremely bad service, and unpolite personnel. While the sushi itself was fine, it comes topped in Dutch style with tons of mayonnaise. Since the service was so bad ordering drinks led to the owner of the restaurant giving us a lecture about their rules and how they make profit. Obviously this was uasked for, we just wanted some water with the salty food but apparently you are forced to take 1 drink (0,2 liter for about 3€) per person. To top our bad experience off the first round of sushi came with a tropical looking spider crawling on top. While this might not be the fault of the personnel it should have been noticed before serving. Not...
