Nice meals, slow service and pricey beer. Not inclined to return. We hadn't made a reservation - we had been wandering around Haarlem for a curry and had picked a few places in mind on the understanding that if one place was full, we'd head to another - but they showed us to a vacant table upon entry despite it being quite busy. At full capacity, this place is understaffed: I found the service very slow - drinks came quickly with the menu but there was a good half-hour wait before our meal order was taken. Nonetheless, the food arrived pretty quickly after ordering. The meals weren't bad: the prawn madras was good, with some large prawns forming the "meat" of the dish, but the chicken jal frezi wasn't as spicy or rich as I expected. As mains came with rice there was a large container of boiled basmati (like pilau) to share and we'd ordered a nan to the side. Although we had more drinks mid-meal, once we'd finished it took some time to have our table cleared then quite a delay between requesting the bill and receiving it (meaning we missed one train). I liked the meals there but found the beer expensive (7 euros?!) and next time I'm in the area I'm inclined to try somewhere different.

Update as of May 2024 - Still one of the best Indian food you can get in Haarlem. Love it ! --------- Yes ! Absolutely love the taste & tastes like Indian food 😘 been living in the Netherlands since 4 months and although I cook Indian at home, but restaurant food is always welcome !! ➖ Made booking on the call ➖ 8pm booking on weekdnd. ➖ Family of 4. 2 adults & 2 children. ➖ The host was friendly, welcoming and we were immediately seated ➖ Ordered - Chicken madras, kadhai paneer, chicken biryani, butter naan. ➖ Biryani was more like Pulao but tasted still yumm. ➖ Absolutely yumm and tasted on point. Kids were super happy 🤩 ➖ Will definitely visit again when ever I miss Indian taste Could be better ➖ ➖ Choice of songs playing 😁 Note ➖ Indians - eating / ordering Indian food here - please don't compare with what you get back home, & be practical about what you get in India vs abroad 🙏

One of my most expensive, worst, and most pathetic food experiences in the Netherlands. I ordered Paneer Vindaloo and Chicken Biryani for 30.75€ takeaway. Paneer Vindaloo@14.75€ - requested to make spicy, and extra chili powder was added to the already made diluted tomato gravy with some green chilies, and the taste was awful with paneer and boiled potato pieces together (unworthy to be called a dish) Chicken Biryani@16.75€ - one of the worst biryani ever, with utterly bland rice with chicken pieces. No taste, and there is no spice at all. Food quantity is very low for the price of the most expensive chicken biryani in the Netherlands (supremely tasteless rice + chicken) #PLEASE DONT NEVER ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT

Staff very rude... took me almost 2h to get the food.

Commenting your note: First of all, we didnt arrive 20h. I go to this restaurant time to time and I suggested to my friends to try this one. I regret now. The time that you noted doesn't mean that it is really what happened. We had a baby and we shouldn't have left the restaurant that late. Also, we tried to order but nobody was coming to our table. Second, we tried go order drinks and one situation your colleague completely ignored us. She told us I am busy putting the things to warm the dishes on the table, when in my opinion she could just listen and ask somebody to bring later. Thrird, everybody else was getting food except our table, and people coming much earlier. In my opinion a restaurant should never influence in the mood of people, especially in a group. And especially you know that I go there time to time, in my opinion, should get better attention.

In a summary, we had a baby woke up until very late due the delays, the staff was not that friendly in my opinion, especially your colleague, and this timeline you wrote here doesn't show what happened in reality.

To be honest, after your comment, I won't come back anymore and I am sure nobody else on that table. These comments are not friendly....

I use to eat at this restaurant often and sent quite some expats. .....for two reasons . My dish was good. The young lady always welcome with smile and l was always treated well.

HOWEVER. ....what made me stop going to this restaurant was....

Entrance when you look straight there is a great deal lack of organisation ....

last visited this restaurant the man ( l presume is the owner .....) is always with same work out clothing. ....like just arrived from gym or going to work out.....on that particular dinner l had a client with me,she asked ..does he going or coming from gym ....that have given me a uncomfortable feeling. ...on top of it .....My last visit he argued with young lady because of my order....she knows what l eat he doesn't yet he wouldn't listen to her..... I told her that was my last visit .....because l was tired of experience same things over and over . I don't need a reply.....however take your time to keep a spotless restaurant. ....and if you want to deal with your clients. ....consider have some self presentation. After all .... A restaurant without a good Cook Staff Organisation ...it will be challenging to have...
