I really wanted to like this place because it is a convenient alternative to the pancake restaurant next door. I liked the menu choices at Café the Plaza but I was very disappointed in the food and service that I received. Maybe we just got the wrong server on a bad day. I was never offered a refill on my coffee or water. Our server came by once and we reminded her that we didn't receive the Dutch potatoes that we ordered. That turned out to be the only part of the meal that was actually hot...and the best tasting. My wife's waffle was not hot and didn't taste good. My pancakes were not even warm enough to melt the butter. I wasn't given enough syrup to even go on 1 and a half of the 3 small pancakes on my plate. My waitress finally returned to our table long after I was done eating and giving up on being offered a coffee refill. When she asked me how everything was, I told her about my cold pancakes. She said "oh, I'm sorry." But she didn't offer to make it right. I then waited for several minutes more to get the check, which was for the full amount. Needless to say, I wasn't inclined to return again. I still left her a decent tip for the below average experience.

We always ate at the Dutch Pancake Haus or Casa Tuna instead of here and I understand why we were walking past this place intuitively. My mom was feeling under the weather and we came here 2 nights in a row. For the first night: we waited 45~ mins for 2x bowls of soup of the day, it was lukewarm and tasted alright. We noticed the inattentiveness of the wait staff for not only us but like 3 other groups of people. We were waiting to be seated for like 10 mins and then waited like another 10 mins just to have the server give us waters and menus. After we placed our orders we waited like what felt like an hour. Had mixed feelings about that first time so we decided to come in for another night and to my surprise, I was served food on a chipped plate.. ☠️☠️ I reserve the right to take legal action if my vacay in Aruba ends up in a hospital bed.

What an experience we had (party of 6) that came in for Brunch. We were accommodated by a wonderful waitress that sat us down quickly, offered drinks and took our menu. Drinks came out rather quickly (5-7 mins) and then we sat and waited… we ordered basics that did not take much time to make, the venue did not appear packed either, the wait was truly a surprise. After 55 mins of no food I had to ask for its status which the waitress said was being made at that moment. Within 5 mins our dishes started to come out. The food was delicious, made well and flavors on point, but the wait truly made the meals unpleasant. We can’t even blame the waitress, there were a few staff members that were not even doing anything but were on their phones instead. I would strongly encourage management to speak to their staff about being punctual and more attentive.

Last night I went to cafe The Plaza and was highly disappointed. They had made social media advertisements and created an event promising a “vibrant” evening to watch the Dutch womens national football team in the world cup quarter finals. I was excited to go, because I had heard from friends that the cafe sets up a huge screen when the mens national team plays. When we arrived, there was no big screen and the sound of the tv’s was turned off. When I asked our waittress about it she said that the sound of the football game would not be turned on until the live music outside would finish (we sat inside though). When I asked her when that would be, she said 10pm… which was a full hour after the football game kicked off! If you are going to lure people in to watch a live sports event at your cafe, the sound should be on! This is no way of organising a sports event, sitting there in silence. And seeing that it was live, we were bound to stay because leaving the cafe and driving somewhere else would mean missing the game all together. If I knew this up front I wouldn’t have come. Closing time is 11pm, but at 10:15pm the waiters were already getting ready to close the place, long before the football game was set to end. When our table asked for coffees, a long hesitation followed because they had “already turned off the machine”… all of this, when their sports event had really just started. In general, it was a very quiet night at the cafe and yet was very hard to get waiters’ attention. I will definitely stay away from this place the next time I want to watch...

Horrible service. We waited over an hour for our food. My 3 year old never got a drink, was never even offered one. Never got silverware, we had to ask for her to get a spoon. My husbands water got refilled once and no one else’s got a refill. My oldest got her food in two parts. Waited 10mins just to get her tortillas for the fajitas. My youngest was the last one to get her chicken nuggets! Literally everyone had been served except her. 5 mins after we had gotten our food she got hers. I had to feed her my rice. Everyone outside was getting their food; people that arrived after us. Yet, there we were sitting with no food. I even asked to get our dessert(from the 3 course meal) while we were eating because we were over it and ready to go. Not even that, they took forever. I finally just asked for the check and told them I didn’t care. The other woman that came by, left my card on the bar top and walked into the kitchen. Proceeded to come out and tell us our dessert was being packed to go. We just wanted our check and to leave. We were already walking out when she came by with the bag of deserts. I even told her, to pay attention to the kids and explained my child hadn’t even had a drink the whole time. We paid for her meal too!!! Do not recommend at all! The food was not good either, the steak was plain. No flavor at all. The only good thing was the ceviche. Even that was mostly lime and no flavor too. We only ate everything because we literally had not eaten all day and were starving. Still came back to our hotel and ordered room service....

I have been a client for more than 20years and always enjoyed the food and the entertainment. The service staff always really friendly until last friday, when we just dropped in for a cup of tea and dessert. We have our favorite spot so we approached the table and yes it was still not cleaned up but usually the waiters just clear it up and we sit down. This time a young waitress came up to us and in a very harsh voice told us the table is dirty, which we already saw, and we are not to sit there. OK, so we moved to another table. At that moment I saw a cousin of mine at another table so I walked over to greet him and while he was introducing me to his friends, my partner walked over to greet everyone. Suddenly the waitress comes over and scolded me, us that we could not sit there, which was not the plan, since we know that with the new rules it is only 4 people to a table, and I told her we are not sitting, just greeting. She went on in a very harsh tone. Anyway, my cousin went inside to complain to the supervisor regarding the treatment of the waitress, he came back and said" you know they took her side"?!. So I went to the supervisor and told her what had happened and she did not aplogize. So I left. I am not spending my good money where they do not know how to talk or...
