We ate here last week and sat right away because we had a standing reservation. The vibe has definitely changed since my last visit a couple of years ago, where it is now looking like a large family style restaurant as opposed to the more intimate setting it was the last time we ate here. I asked the server what I should choose for my appetizer between the bisque and the fried brie with berry compote. She declared to get the brie with berry compote, so I ordered that. In the interim the bread was brought out to us. The server had told us the bread is amazing so my expectations were high. However, the bread was toasted and cold and the butter was also cold. See attached picture. Definitely, not what I expected for "amazing bread". Next, my appetizer and my partners salad arrived. My appetizer (the brie with berry compote) looked pretty, but once I took a bite, it was not pretty anymore. It literally tasted like vomit. The server asked me how I liked it and I told her it was not for me. The manager immediately came over to us and she asked me specifically what I did not like about it, and I had to tell her the truth. It really tasted horrible. About 3 minutes later, my partner found a caterpillar in his salad. Yes... a caterpillar. He asked for the manager to come over and she did promptly. We offered to pay for our food, but she declined and offered apologies. Again, very nice staff, but terrible food. The icing on the cake was when we were home at the airport getting our luggage and another traveler recognized us from the night before at the restaurant and wanted to know our story because they waited hours for their food to the point they finally just asked for it 'to go'. Once eaten, they said the food was terrible. This place used to be a gem, but now it's just like a terrible Chili's. Oh, I also forgot, I was going to order the lobster, but a 13 oz lobster at Market Price there was $129... Meanwhile, Market Price for lobster in Aruba is approximately $14.00. That's robbery. These other reviews must be fake because there is no way the food is good there.

We had a horrendous experience at this place! We came to celebrate a birthday of my friend and the beginning of the evening was going great, until the birthday girl mentioned to our waitress that potato in her dish tasted a bit spoiled. To our surprise waitress responded with “you ate half of it and now it’s spoiled!?!”, so my friend clarified that she wasn’t asking for a comp but just wanted to let her know so she can forward her message to the chef so they check it and perhaps decide not to serve it to their guests. Waitress left and came back in 5 minutes and begun scold my friend that it was wrong of her to eat half of the plate and complain about it not being fresh, that it was too late and the cost of this food will be taken off her paycheck if she will return it to the kitchen. We were completely shocked at this development! This waitress decides to give us a reprimand like we were 10 years old kids and did something wrong! I decided to find the manager of the establishment but apparently they had no one there that evening. I asked to be connected with the manager and a woman at the bar seemed to send a voice message to someone. Meanwhile, our waitress came by and started saying something to me and then said “if you don’t like something then pay and leave”!!! I could not believe my own ears. This woman is not supposed to be in the service industry, she is rude, let alone spiteful!!! The food was average, nothing special. The skirt stake was cut into strips and did not worth $49. (the picture of the waitress was taken from another review) The place looked very nice from the outside but I will not recommend coming here to anyone!

Absolutely brilliant experience! I booked a dinner for me and my husband while enjoying our 1st trip in Aruba and we couldn’t be more satisfied. Being spoiled NYC foodies (also having a friend who is a professional chef and loving to cook myself) we definitely had high expectations. We came to the place having a reservation and were seated at desired table right away. Our server Andre was super welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. It was clearly noticeable how passionate he is about what he’s doing. He was also very fast even though it was “full house” in the restaurant - there were a few big parties going on while we were visiting (it didn’t bother us, as we got a table in the back and ambience was charming). Jason was another guy who wanted to make sure we’ve enjoyed our experience to the fullest by offering to take me and my hubby’s photos - and not only one! He made us smile, he made us kiss - photos turned out amazing! Drinks were served in a timely manner and my husband’s request “to come up with something with rum” came out delicious. My lychee martini was also great. We got another round. 2 appetizers (salmon crudo, shrimp tacos) and 3 entrees (grouper, yellowfin tuna, braised rabbit) were also perfect! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, decent portions and LOTS OF FLAVOR. I honestly can’t stand undersalted flavor-lacking food, but all the dishes in Screaming Eagle were delicious. Our favorite was Yellowfin tuna steak. We both agreed that it was one of the best dining experience we’ve ever had, not only in Aruba, but overall! Thank you for being so amazing! Wishing you many more happy customers

Edit: Its funny how the restaurant’s response to our terrible experience, due to no fault of our own ... was rude just like their service. And as a black customer I was told to not return in their response below. However, a nonblack customer a few comments below ...insulted the restaurant and the name ... BUT their response was nicer, understanding and was told they hope they’ll return. Okay- you guys are definitely racist.

While in Aruba, my friends and I decided to visit Screaming Eagle on our final night. To adhere to the 10pm curfew we moved our reservation to 7pm. Upon arrival the customer service was less than subpar. Our waitress was rude and didn’t tend to us properly. We pretty much had to beg to be waited on. It took too long to order drinks and for drinks to come out. The waitress never smiled as she greeted us each time. Also, it took her an extensive amount of time to come back to check on us. We booked this restaurant based on reviews. I’m not sure what the issue was but we were treated poorly from the start. We were there for a celebration and didn’t receive the same treatment as others. As we sat, we witnessed so many happy birthdays cakes and songs delivered for guest by the staff. We then reminded our waitress, we too would like to have our friend celebrated. She told us okay and came back 30 minutes later just to inform us they couldn’t accommodate the request because they were closing. It wasn’t even 10pm yet, which is the time they were set to close. Keep in mind this request was 30 minutes plus old and during that time there were two other groups serenaded and you guys couldn’t accommodate our request to sing happy birthday to our friend? We were well behaved the entire time through the terrible service until Towards the end we did complain. We felt that we were being treated less than fair in comparisons to others dining at the restaurant. I found it funny because we were the only Black group dining at that time. What a coincidence.

Honestly, I would never recommend this restaurant to any of my friends visiting Aruba. Not only was the restaurant seemingly racist, the service was terrible and the food was not good. I ordered the King Klip fish with risotto. The risotto was too sweet. The fish was under seasoned and over cooked. It was very Dry. The entire party felt their food was overdone and not prepared properly.

I saw that Screaming Eagle pretty much clapped back at another review and said not to come back. Trust and believe I would NEVER step foot back into your restaurant. This isn’t to give you a bad name. However, this was my terrible dinning experience that unfortunately My friends and I had to deal with. Thanks for ruining my friends 30th birthday dinner. My experience there actually deserves no stars!!!

Not to mention, the waitresses were talking about us and...

If you would like to spend nearly $85+ per person on the worst meal you’ll have on your vacation, go for it, otherwise, stay away. The server was friendly and convinced us to order the worst food on the menu. We ordered the Mahi Mahi and when we asked to substitute the sweet potato for mashed potatoes as the side, the waiter ran back and forth from the kitchen to the table multiple times asking the chef whether he’d be okay with doing such a “difficult substitution”. He ended up telling us that we cannot substitute anything on the menu and we order it as it comes. So we ended up having to order the mashed potatoes on top of the sweet potatoes just because of their laziness. Oh and not to mention, once we ordered the terrible food he recommended, we waited nearly an hour and a half for it to arrive. When it did finally come, he told us that we’d have to pay extra for the mashed potatoes that we ordered, and when we asked for no mushrooms or bacon with our meal, they put on both. For those sweet potatoes the server was frustrated about, the plates came with 2 finger sized slices of sweet potato, (nothing too difficult to substitute). When we finished our iced teas, the server came up to take away the empty cups and we proceeded to sit there for an extra half an hour awaiting refills which we didn’t get. Server was also talking down on the food they are serving, in which case, honesty is great, however the way he described it, he might as well have just told us to go eat at the restaurant across the street. The Mahi Mahi tasted horrible, flavor was nearly inedible. Now for the atmosphere, we had to take a taxi to the middle of nowhere just to eat from this restaurant, given front row seats of a construction site right across the road. We were also told that we couldn’t sit inside due to construction, and when we did go inside to use the bathroom, let me tell you, it was cooler outside than it was inside (85 Degrees outside). No air conditioning whatsoever, had sweat rolling down the whole time. When the check finally came, we were disappointed to see a check worth nearly $320 ($47 of which was the tip) for most definitely the worst food we’ve had on the island. If you are thinking about dining here, save yourself your money and your time, and this is coming from someone who rarely ever writes reviews, the food is horrible, atmosphere is sketchy, and think twice before...

Just left the restaurant and we are not happy. We have been there several times before and this time was so bad, we will never ever go back again. We (2 people) ordered salads, I ordered only mashed potatoes and my husband ordered fish tacos. Our waiter never came and checked on us to see if we needed anything, we had to flag down several other wait staff to see if we could possibly get extra dressing for our salads. Other people came in and sat after us, they got served before we did and they actually finished their meals and we still didn't even get the other part of our meal. After flagging down more wait staff to ask where our food was at least two separate times, they said they'd bring it out right away and it never came. Normally, we're pretty patient people but we were beyond frustrated. We had to hunt down someone else again and finally our regular waiter brought our food out and he set it down on the table and didn't acknowledge that we sat there and waited an hour for this part of our meal! I ordered mashed potatoes as I don't eat meat, they didn't give me any butter so I had to find someone else to get me butter and our regular waiter brought me the flavored butter that they serve with the bread. I am not kidding, we had to ask two separate people to bring us butter. I've had the mashed potatoes before and these were instant mashed potatoes and gummy and stiff and I didn't finish eating them. We wanted to pay the bill and just get out of there, and you guessed it we had to find someone to bring our bill. Our actual waiter came over with his credit card machine, never acknowledged any of the issues and just took the card, popped it in the machine and asked us if we wanted to leave a tip. I told him no, I do not want to leave a tip. I explained to him that I have never not left a tip in my life for someone but today, this service was terrible and the food was not good. Guess what he said back to me? He said well there was other people in here that were eating too, what was funny about that was the people that arrived after us and they already ate and left the restaurant and we were still waiting on our food. I will never go back there again. It was just so ridiculous....
