Lizzy's Beach Bar — Restaurant in Philipsburg

Had delicious rum punch here made with guavaberry liqueur ($5 USD), a St. Maarten specialty liquor! Very refreshing to sip on the beach. That Caribbean sun ain't playing though, so wear plenty of sunscreen. We didn't have any beers at Lizzy's but other folks were buying them by the bucket.

We also rented beach chairs with umbrellas for $10 USD per person. Great Bay Beach has fantastic swimming in gorgeous, calm turquoise waters with soft white sand that your toes easily sink into with each arriving wave. Absolutely the quintessential Caribbean beach! An amazing, dream-come-true experience. I wish I was there RIGHT NOW.

Even the water taxi over to Great Bay Beach from the cruise ship port was a full-on party! The crew was blasting some kicka** music (24k Magic, Sweet Caroline, etc.) and dancing around having as much fun as any of us passengers were. Singalongs were irresistible and they were generous with the high-fives. The vibe was beyond positive! For $7 USD you get a wristband that's good for unlimited rides all day back & forth, directly between the beach & the ship. These are the only two stops. The water taxi comes every 15-20 minutes and they sell cold beer, soda and bottled water on board for super cheap. Each time we rode, we stuffed some cash into the tip box mounted on the railing near the exit. This crew turned an otherwise ordinary commute into a fun and memorable part of our vacation, and since the locals have had such a grueling recovery since Hurricane Irma hit last year, I was more than impressed with how genuinely positive...

Lizzy’s is the best, I come here every time I’m in St Maarten and it never disappoints. Walking down the beach many people try to hassle you for beach chairs, $50 for 2 chairs, $60 for 2 chairs, EVEN $70 for 2 chairs. But NOT at Lizzy’s. They take CARE of YOU. At Lizzy’s 2 chairs, umbrella, and rum punch for $10 can’t be beaten anywhere on the island and the service is always excellent. The owner genuinely cares about the customers and the value is fantastic. Fries are crispy on the outside, and so soft and fluffy on the inside, AMAZING…some might say THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Found Lizzy's beach bar through Google and it didn't disappoint. Came off a cruise ship and took the water taxi to the beach. As soon as you get off the taxi people are trying to sell you beach beds for twice what Lizzy is asking. 2 beds, umbrella, WiFi and complimentary rum punch for $10 (November). Live DJ who was also singing really set the mood to enjoy the beach for the afternoon. Had told some other cruisers to come to Lizzy's and they enjoyed the day as well. Food and drinks well priced and all cooked by Lizzy. Got to meet her when we were leaving and she is soo lovely. Definitely recommend and will visit whenever we are...
