So.. I visited this restaurant, and had dinner with a friend. The place itself looks very appealing, the decoration is beautiful, the atmosphere is inviting, and at first glance it gives the impression of an authentic Yemeni experience.
However, when it comes to the food, I was disappointed. As someone who was born and raised in Yemen and has experienced Yemeni cuisine in its true form, I know how unique and delicious it can be when prepared with care. Unfortunately, the food here did not reflect that. The taste was not consistent or memorable, and it did not capture the richness and authenticity of Yemeni cooking.
What annoyed me the most was that the table next to us, with two Dutch women, also had dinner but sadly did not finish any of their dishes. It looked as though they had only tasted the food and decided they didn’t like it. When the waiter asked if they wanted to take it away, they politely refused. It was disappointing to see, because this shows that even first-time visitors, who might be curious to explore Yemeni cuisine, are not getting the true experience it deserves to offer.

While the decor may attract customers for a first or second visit, what truly makes people return to a restaurant is the food itself—and Yemeni cuisine deserves to shine in that way.
It saddens me that a restaurant carrying the name of our culture and cuisine does not deliver the experience it should. Yemeni food is special because of its unique methods of preparation, the flavors that develop over time, and the way it is served. Instead of prioritizing appearances, I wish the owners would focus more on the cooking methods and on elevating the quality of the dishes so they can truly reflect the richness of Yemeni culture.
Until then, the experience remains inconsistent, and that is not what Yemeni...
