Visited Hung Kee, a Chinese restaurant located on Witte de Witstraat, one of the vibrant hubs of cafes and restaurants in Rotterdam. The location is incredibly convenient and ideal for exploring the city’s culinary scene.
In Rotterdam, finding a Chinese restaurant that offers great value for money can be a bit challenging. Unlike The Hague, where I've found my go-to spots, Rotterdam's Chinese food options often range from high-end, fancy places to just okay. However, Hung Kee has surprised me by striking the perfect balance, offering excellent quality at reasonable prices. It’s quickly become my go-to Chinese restaurant in the city.
We tried the Gebakken Inktvis met zout en peper (Fried Squid with salt and pepper), and it was astonishingly good. The dish was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of saltiness, and the squid was fresh with no unpleasant smell, which can sometimes be an issue. We also had the Gerosterde Peking Eend (Roasted Peking Duck), which was equally impressive.
To round off the meal, I recommend ending with their classic Chinese tea, as we often do. True to the tradition of Chinese restaurants, each main dish comes with a portion of rice, making for a satisfying and well-rounded meal.
Overall, Hung Kee offers an exceptional dining experience with great value, and I highly recommend it for anyone in Rotterdam seeking delicious and reasonably priced...
Read moreDisaster food! We were out of options since everywhere closes quite early in Rotterdam and we saw the reviews were not bad, so we went in. This Chinese and Indonesian restaurant is low profile and not even so badly decorated. Nothing bad with it but when it comes to the food quality: mamma mia! The only thing I feel recommending are the Chinese vegetables with Chicken. The portions are big so people often take a doggy bag away. Prices are low. I saw some Chinese people inside. They must have been tourists as us. They could not eat such...
