I highly recommend Bustan, a fantastic Palestinian restaurant in The Hague, perfectly located and offering a truly authentic dining experience. In today’s world, having a Palestinian restaurant like this feels especially meaningful—it is a chance to experience real Palestinian cuisine and the warmth of its culture through delicious food and heartfelt hospitality.

We had our office Christmas dinner here, and even our most high-maintenance colleague gave their approval with a big 👍👌 and a happy smile! From start to finish, everything was perfectly arranged. I had met with one of the owners beforehand, who helped me plan a shared menu that included vegan and pescatarian options. The starters and dips were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The chicken was so tender it practically melted in our mouths, and the katayef for dessert was simply irresistible.

The two owners, lifelong friends, truly pour their love and passion into this place. While we sadly missed the live music that one of them usually plays, both of them took the time to stop by our table, greet us, and explain the different dishes. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions.

I highly recommend Bustan, a fantastic Palestinian restaurant in The Hague, located in a perfect spot. In today's world, a Palestinian restaurant feels timely and essential, offering an opportunity to experience real Palestinian cuisine. As I browsed the menu, I was impressed by how faithful it is to the original dishes, with their traditional names and an impressive variety. What's refreshing is that the restaurant takes its cultural representation seriously, without resorting to kitsch or over-commercialization—no flags, icons, or activist symbols here. Instead, the focus is purely on culture: the books on the shelves and, most importantly, the food. There’s no orientalist or exotic décor, just a celebration of Palestinian culinary heritage. I believe this is a deliberate and smart choice by the owners.

As for the food itself, I had the Mansaf and Arayes, and both were absolutely excellent. The wine selection is also superb. The staff is wonderful—friendly, warm, and welcoming. Een tijdje geleden had ik het geluk om voor zestien personen te kunnen reserveren bij dit restaurant. Vanaf het eerste contact werd ik getroffen door de vriendelijkheid en oprechte betrokkenheid van de eigenaar. Hij dacht actief mee over hoe we de avond speciaal konden maken voor zo’n grote groep. Dat persoonlijke en zorgvuldige meedenken voelde bijzonder welkom en stelde me meteen op mijn gemak.

Helaas moesten vijf personen door omstandigheden afzeggen, maar toen ik hierover belde, werd er zonder enige moeite flexibel en begripvol gereageerd. Dit was ontzettend fijn, omdat ik maandelijks diners organiseer voor internationale mensen in Den Haag. Op deze avonden ontmoeten mensen elkaar vaak voor het eerst, en de sfeer van het restaurant is dan ook essentieel om de juiste setting te creëren.

Als ex-horecamedewerker let ik altijd extra op de service en de interactie in een restaurant, en daarin stelde dit restaurant allesbehalve teleur. We werden warm en hartelijk ontvangen, met een persoonlijke aandacht die ons meteen op ons gemak stelde. Het was alsof we even werden meegenomen naar een andere wereld – de sfeer deed me denken aan mijn tijd in het Midden-Oosten, waar gastvrijheid zo diep geworteld is.

We kozen voor een menu met verschillende mezes en heerlijk gegrild vlees van de barbecue. Elk gerecht was een feest voor de zintuigen; alles smaakte voortreffelijk en overtrof onze verwachtingen. Ik ben al een vaste bezoeker van Shakshuka vanwege de geweldige sfeer en het heerlijke eten, maar deze ervaring voelde echt als een beleving op zich.

Met een hart vol dankbaarheid kijk ik terug op deze avond. Het was een perfecte mix van lekker eten, een warme sfeer en de aandacht van een team dat begrijpt wat gastvrijheid écht betekent.
