Oh, my! Not sure why I haven’t found this place sooner! We’re big fans of Italian food - we’ve literally sampled most Italian restaurants in The Hague. This has to be our new favourite! Exquisite! From the generous aperitivo (hands down best aperol spritz ever!), we knew we were off to a good start. The burrata is always my daughter’s ultimate deal maker or breaker - she needn’t have worried: perfectly plump and deliciously creamy, she was happy - and even polished off its bed of delicately roasted veggies! She was even happier when the tagliatelle al tartufo began to be spectacularly prepared in the flaming wheel of cheese. We’ve all eaten this dish many times in various restaurants, but the combination of truffle and cheese was divine - I’m not sure what the chef does - but it’s really great! My gnocchi was just as excellent - the sauce was new for me - a creation of the Italian chef - honestly, it was delicious, and paired beautifully with a fabulous chilled Italian red! As if the meal couldn’t get better - it did: the piece de resistance, for me, was the panna cotta. Now, I’m not usually a dessert fan - but the mention of ‘home-made caramel sauce’ got my attention. If you try this restaurant, and I really recommend that you do, you must leave room for this! Honestly, to die for. Daughter rolled me home - luckily, we live close! 😂 This place oozes Italian charm - a classy little family restaurant with friendly staff from the kitchen to the front of house. A talented, welcoming team who we are sure to see again! Often!...
Read moreWe have now dined at Tanta Roba four times, and each visit has been nothing short of extraordinary. In fact, after our very first meal there, we were so impressed that we returned the very next day — something we rarely do when traveling.
The menu offers a lovely selection of authentic Italian dishes, but my personal favorite — and it has remained so with every visit — is the tagliatelle burro, salvia e tartufo. This dish is prepared partially at the table, where the master chef or his assistant flambees the pasta in a hollowed wheel of pecorino cheese. The presentation alone is a delight, but the taste is what truly captivates. The combination of butter, sage, truffle, and perfectly melted pecorino achieves a balance that is rich yet never overwhelming — a perfect harmony of flavors. Paired with a glass of full-bodied red Primitivo, it is nothing short of heavenly.
To round off the meal, the Affogato — smooth vanilla ice cream drenched in hot espresso — followed by a rich Italian coffee and a crisp grappa Bianca makes for a flawless finale.
The warmth of the staff, the artistry of the cuisine, and the cozy yet elegant ambiance make Tanta Roba a place worth traveling for. For us, the journey from Belgium, including the overnight stay in The Hague, has been more than worth it each time — all for the pleasure of dining at this remarkable...
Read moreOn Valentines day we had our third dinner here. The first two times the services was decent, but the food was great. However, during our third time we had the choice between the Valentines day menu and pizzas. This was actually to our surprise as nothing was indicated that the regular menu would not be available. Even though we had contact via e-mail with them. Since we had good food experiences with this restaurant we went for the (rather expensive) menu. The third time was unfortunately enough not a lucky charm. The antipasti and the secondi were both not served at the right temperature (too cold). Furthermore we couldn’t switch the dessert (cake) for a different dessert (tiramisu) as the dessert in the menu didn’t had our preference. When switching we clearly indicated that we wanted the tiramisu in place of the cake. They didn’t mention that it would cost extra. Understandable that it may cost extra, but not the full price in my opinion. When the plan is to charge the full price indicate that on forehand while placing the order rather than during the presentation of the bill at the end of it. We don’t expect free stuff at all, but we do expect a sincere apology and a more customer friendly solution, which the waitress did not provide. This dinner at Tanta Roba has given us a very bad aftertaste and will be a no go for any further...
