Restaurant De Klub — Restaurant in Utrecht

If this review was about food alone, I would be agonizing over whether to give 4 or 5 stars. However the service was completely unacceptable for a restaurant where we were paying 100 eur per person.

Having made reservations a several days in advance, I was called the day of and asked if I could push our dinner reservations half an hour later due to a glitch in the reservation system. No problem.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a server who directed us to sit anywhere that was available. Our server greeted us after several minutes and asked us a few questions about appetizers that made it clear no one had looked at our reservation (specifically mentioned in the dietary restrictions section that we were vegetarian). Not a big deal.

Well after a few courses (that were absolutely delicious) we couldn't figure out where our server was. We had finished our course at least 20 minutes prior when we looked over and saw her sitting at another table drinking. We then had two different servers over the rest of our meal, never knowing who was going to be looking after us when.

I was a server in fine dining establishments for six years. Had I simply vanished and ended up at another table drinking I would expect that would be the last night I would be employed at that establishment.

I could recommend several restaurants in Utrecht at this price point with the same quality of food, but with service to accompany it rather than De Klub. It's truly a shame that given how delicious the food is, the one thing I will really remember was the feeling of...

We had such a wonderful experience at De Klub in Utrecht! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and it has a really nice vibe, the kind of place where you immediately feel at ease.

A special shoutout to the sommelier (owner?): his expert explanation of the white wine we ordered really added to the experience. When it turned out that this specific bottle was corked, he handled it with such professionalism and kindness. Not only did he replace the wine, but he also treated us to two extra drinks on the house to make up for it. We TRULY found that so wonderful and generous!

De Klub combines great food, excellent service, and a relaxed yet stylish ambiance. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back, when visiting...

Absolutely top marks for creativity, passion, taste and presentation. Also to be able to have such an outstanding experience in such a relaxed and comfortable setting is the best.

Knowledgeable and super friendly waiting staff and chefs who really love what they do based on the food they make but also how they talk about their creations. New favorite restaurant in Utrecht, hands down.

Edit 14.4.22: what I wrote above still holds true so much! Three times I’ve been, and the amazing people at de Klub consistently deliver an astounding level of quality, engagement and true passion for what they do! Still my favorite...
