Wijncafé Lefebvre — Restaurant in Utrecht

They are genuinely racist and this is not cool. I have been there a few times and realize that if you are not dutch (don't look very white and blond) they WILL give you a poorer service.

Last night I was there with a friend of mine, who looks very obviously not dutch and the waiter took MUCH longer to come ask us for out order than others that showed up. He brought water to all the other tables the moment they sat down and took their orders but refused to bring us and generally ignored us. Didn't even bring us napkins when we asked for it, and generally made us feel very bad about the place. (every one else but us were dutch and they got much better service). And when I asked him about the water he just said 'Aw, your table I specifically forgot' with a smirk on his face. Absolutely disgusting.

If you don't have a perfectly dutch appearances don't even go to this place. They will treat you as a 'lesser' customer. This is not the first time I have this happen to me there I don't know why I keep going.

I mean it's just water and napkins, but spend your money somewhere else don't encourage this kind...

So, maybe this is a greater trend throughout NL, but in recent times, my wife and I have found that places like this are less inviting for us. I’m Australian but she is Vietnamese and we don’t look like the “standard vanilla” Europeans, even I’ve lived here over 20 years and she’s been here almost 10

So this is a long way to say, we noticed we got poorly served compared to the more local looking people. And it’s funny, if I go with my Dutch mate, super nice service.

Of course, the wine is good, food is also good, but we don’t come back and of course I’ll tell my expat friends to give this place a wide berth. Real shame as otherwise it’s quite nice. But it just now is another one of...

Great place great wines good prices but ..

We came at 10 pm and they are open till 11 but no more food even no more cheese available it’s a shame if you had a small selection of 6-8 cheeses to offer with a bottle of red we should spend more m.

Again we’ve been to the place a few times but we miss the extra hospitality offer a small selection of cheese as a supper in the late evening and for sure it will be a beter experience !
