Island Gelato Co. Mission Bay — Restaurant in Ōrākei

I recently visited an island gelato that had a good reputation. However, my experience was not what I expected. Although the shop opened at 11 am, the scooping of ice cream would not begin until at least 11:30. This was frustrating, as I had specifically planned my visit to arrive at the opening time and was disappointed to find out that I had to wait an extra half hour before I could enjoy my treat.

While I understand that there may be certain logistical challenges that could cause a delay in scooping ice cream, it would have been helpful if the shop had communicated this on their website or through a sign on the door. This way, customers could adjust their plans accordingly and avoid any inconvenience.

Despite this negative experience, I must admit that I have had good experiences at other branches of this ice cream shop in the past. Therefore, I am inclined to be generous with my rating and give them a 2/5 for this particular review. While the delay was certainly frustrating, I believe that the quality of their ice cream and their overall reputation should not...

Re coffee: I live around here and have tried coffee at every shop in mission bay, kohi and st heliers… this place has the best coffee hands down (note: it doesn’t come up in google search for “coffee”, it’s labeled just “ice cream”—you guys might want to fix that because your coffee is the best) also unfortunate that they only open at 11 (and sometimes I go right at 11 and shop hasn’t opened yet, errr not great).

Re ice cream: best ice cream in mission bay in terms of quality and variety of options and non dairy options. Movenpick is overpriced and always overrun with tourists and others don’t have the quality and variety.

Overall, I really envision this place as one that can thrive all year round, you guys just need to sort out a few details. Advertise your coffee because it’s bangin, be open when you say you will and open in...

FINALLY, an ice cream shop with pistachio flavor! It was great and the real stuff, too :)

Heaps of flavours, all super appealing! The staff last Saturday were fantastic - friendly & helpful, efficiently serving everyone.

Pineapple Mojito is cool & exactly what you expect but it was instantly melting, pretty much leaking... slushy-like, almost. If you can manage to eat that, it's perfect for summer! Perhaps more suited for a cup.

Massive single scoops, especially on the cones... worth the cost but...
