Been to the Khanz main restaurant many times and loved it a lot. So wanting to try to buffet restaurant that they newly opened. First of all, for $35 per person you get to try so many different middle eastern style cusine dishes which is very reasonable. For myself who aren't from this culture, I was able to try so many things and find out what I like. This buffet lets me explore the different dishes of this culture.
Anyway on to the food review. There were a meat station, salad station and a dessert station. The meat station had lots of different type of meat such as, curry chicken, fish kebab, lamb kebab, mutton, fried chicken etc. Some of the dishes I feel was more catered towards European style so I try not to pick those to try. My favourite was the mutton curry, mutton was fatty and not too chewy to eat. The lamb rice dish was also quite good to go with all the meat dishes.
For veges, I tried a little bit of everything. The one that I absolutely love was the roasted eggplant salad which had the roasted taste but then as you bite into it, it was creamy in texture.
Dessert was really good too, I love the lotus pudding, baklava and the basbusa.
Overall very yummy food and not bad variety.
Few things I wish they had was, a plate in middle to keep the bones since there wasn't any plates change. I also wished they had the charcoal chicken or chicken tandoori for meat dish. They also didn't have tabbuleh salad and hummus which I loved from the main restaurant.
But they do have a nice black tea that helps balance all the fat and calories intake though.
Overall enjoyed my meal here. But I have to say that if you enjoy variety, then this place is better. But if you enjoy the classic middle eastern cuisine more, then the main restaurant...
Read moreI was expecting good things from the reviews and more choices for food such as that on the menu, there was only one main butter chicken curry to choose from that wasn't vegetarian or lamb. I was expecting a lot of curries to choose from plus more that was on the menu. I didn't realise that it was going to be such a small selection and thought most of the menu was what would be there. The chicken was so dry in all the meals. There was little choice or variety. I don't eat lamb and there was a lot of lamb so I can't comment on how that tasted. Not one of the deserts were nice tasting and once again - dry! sponge cakes and others that were not moist and no ice cream or anything to moisten it. the deserts in the cabinet to purchase looked far nicer than that of the buffet! The boneless fried chicken had bones through. My friend who eats many plates at a buffet normally, didn't even go back for a second plate of anything so only ate the one plate of food and one of desert. The only thing that was nice was the chickpea curry and vegetarian curry and I'm not even vegetarian. I know the guy there was trying to see what needed to be replaced etc but following you around while your choosing the whole time is really off putting as well. Atmosphere it was really loud and no ambient music in the background. Good price but would expect more food choices for that- even double the amount that was there. Smallest buffet I have ever been to and would rather go to my local and buy a bunch of different plates of food I enjoy for that price. Sorry for all the complaints but it's hard to find any good points at all. I definitely won't be...
Read moreI am a big fan of Khanz. However, it is not an open buffet that you would expect of Khanz. Let me tell you why It is indian cuisine. So don't say fusion and say indian restaurant Open buffet got almost no salad slection Didn't see off course any sauces, drinks or other staff Mains are mainly few curry/indian pots and rice. Most of the options, if not all are spicy Lamb is not boneless making eating something like rojan a messy experience Food quality is way below my expectations of Khanz
.... I have to admit that staff and service as usual are perfect. However, it wasn't sufficient to stay
I have paid and then shocked with the above . I pushed to make even one edible plate and with the first bite discovered how spicy it is that we left and went to another restaurant and didn't look back.
I would recommend
Say what it is: Indian cuisine Set the right expectations by letting customers know what is on menu/buffet early on Make your variety at least with options that are not spicy so at least I can consider going if I want indian food I believe you will have to get back to the drawing board and ask why would someone pay + $30 for not best quality spicy indian food? And how many?is that enough?
Again some will like what is being offered, especially with the amazing customer service there. Thanks...
