DADA: Japanese Shaved Ice — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

The kakigori here is really good, super fluffy just like the ones in Japan. The matcha flavour was perfect.

I like the classy elegant vibe of the shop and colour palette. If the ceiling beams were perpendicular to the length of the store instead of parallel it would create a more open feel. The overhead lighting can be fitted with a slightly warmer tone and slightly dimmer to create a cosier vibe, along with small portable lamps on each desk like the Amiri Portable Rechargeable Table Lamp from Kmart matching the gold accents. Fairy lights would also be a great addition of providing a inviting feel. Along with some natural and organic Japandi wall art.

I like the large tables but I think the old layout was better with the 4-seaters on the left hand side, and 2-seaters on the right hand side and have stackable round stools for added seating for groups of 3, 5, and 6.

A napkin tray on each table would be a nice touch, or alternatively have a napkin tray (like a jute or bamboo napkin tray) at the cashier and by the water station. And the glass display case is amazing and even more appealing if it had a clean and polish regularly.

At the back of the store you can have 2 seaters with round tables.

The drinks are so amazing you need to show them off! Providing photos of the drinks or even drawings of the drinks and their flavours would entice people and give them a sense of the flavours. A small A4 poster at the cashier with pictures of the drinks would be helpful and Strawberry Matcha is trending right now! Or even just a good matcha! a matcha sign outside could grab people's attention! And if you're not already doing it, a loyalty card like buy 5 matcha get the 6th one...

So we went back and did not disappoint 🥰

Desserts were yum and generous. We thought it was small when we saw the serving dish so we ordered 2 but it was huuuuge!

We were given complimentary hojika tea to warm up a bit after the icey and that was even delicious. Thanks team! 😊

Website says open at 2pm everyday, no mention of opening hours in Instagram

We were outside the shop yesterday at 2:08pm, parked outside, in the car, wondering if they are open or not because there were 4 other people waiting outside.

Doors were closed, no lights on, no one inside, no opening hours on the door that we could see.

A bit disappointed in the lack of info....

They all left. We waited 5mins and...

Delicious treats clearly made with care! A small shop with a selection of tasty food items and plenty well made drinks. The interior may feel a little sparse, but their excellent service quickly warmed our initial impressions.

We had the mango shaved ice, hot matcha latte, dango and some complimentary tea (thank you so much)! I recommend the shaved ice with tea - the combination was really satisfying and clearly the shop owners knew that ☺️.

The shaved ice comes with syrup and toppings throughout and a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the centre. It looked beautiful, just like it did on the menu!! ✨️
