Good food. Rude service. My partner and I came here the other night before a concert wanting to eat out somewhere different in Kingsland and wanting to make use of our Entertainment Book discount. The upstairs section of the restaurant was empty, so we were seated right away. We both ordered the lamb tagine, which came very quickly (less than 15 minutes) and was so much that neither of us could finish. The only problem came when we asked for the bill, including our discount voucher for 25% of the total of our two mains. The first waitress seem perplexed by this, so passed it on to the other waitress to handle. She only deducted 25% off one of the meals, and so charged me $6 more than I should have paid. When I asked for the receipt (she did not even offer this to me, as is general courtesy) she said it was too late as she had already closed the till. When I asked for a re-print she entered the wrong amount and appeared very put out by my request. Considering that it was a very quiet night and there were no other customers waiting, I just felt like more of an effort should have been made here and I left with a bad feeling after what was otherwise a very...
Read moreI do not recommend you spending your money here unless you want bad customer service. What a better way to celebrate your birthday with some bad customer service.
In particular the manager of this establishment. Very rude.
Also looking at other reviews it seems common about this manager and or staff.
Whole time I was at the counter requesting shisha, food and alcohol. We felt like a burden then were not happy with some of the terms of conditions.
We were happy to pay and go sit down but then soon after about to pay and the the manager responded you dont have to be here you know, you can leave.
Absolutely ridiculous especially when the lady "waitress" was trying to calm the situation and not the manager. This is disappointing, considering I was there a week ago and spent $160 on food and beverage and was going to spend $70 easy that night.
Wont be returning, and will be telling everyone I know about the poor management and...
Read moreJaan used to be such a vibrant place to go have a meal or chill with shisha. The standards have dropped immensely, having to go down stairs to a dark, not renovated toilet, downstairs is also under construction since many years ago, it’s still the same. In terms of the food, it was bland, we had to add salt and pepper, middle eastern food is known for its unique taste and flavours so it was a let down, although it looked good on the plate. The dolmah seems like it was from a packet and not made on site, it’s vegetarian also. The lamb musaka was interesting with a lamb patty which was unusual and didn’t suit this dish. They ran out of yoghurt which was also a let down. Also got bitten while dining there so possibly a need for pest control. They also BYO - $8 per bottle Overall wouldn’t dine here again, wouldn’t mind coming back...
