⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finally Tried Mr Charcoal—Worth the Wait!

After driving and walking past Mr Charcoal on Mt Eden Road what feels like a thousand times, my partner and I finally decided to stop in for a meal. The place always seemed busy, and now I understand why—the food is fast, delicious, and satisfying!

One thing to note: you need to enter your vehicle rego at the counter when you dine in, otherwise, you might risk getting towed. Not entirely sure why this is required (maybe private parking enforcement?), but the staff were friendly in reminding us.

The space is divided into two sides (left and right) with the counter and kitchen in the middle. It’s a simple but efficient setup, and even when busy, the service was smooth. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming—perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed dinner.

The Food—Quick & Tasty! One of my biggest pet peeves is waiting forever for food, but that wasn’t an issue here. Our orders arrived fast and everything was served fresh and hot. We tried a mix of skewers, rice dishes, and some of their signature grilled items—all met expectations! The flavors were well-balanced, with just the right amount of smokiness and seasoning.

Standout Dishes: Lamb skewers – Juicy and perfectly spiced. Charcoal-grilled chicken wings – Crispy outside, tender inside. Fried rice – Simple but packed with flavor.

Price The only minor downside is that the prices could be a little more budget-friendly, but given the quality and speed, it’s still good value. Would be even better with some combo deals or...

I recently dined at a restaurant that exceeded my expectations in every way. Not only did they offer a wide variety of delicious food options, but the service was exceptional. What really stood out to me was the fact that we didn't have a booking and two other restaurants had turned us away, but this restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate us. They serve us sit at the reception chairs and provided us with a menu while they organized a table for us as soon as possible. Food is ok. Medium to good. Not particularly amazing but qualifying to pass. Service not so great. If you only speak English you may struggle a bit. Make sure you try chives skewer. But it say “leek” for some reason. The staff are not particularly friendly, but they deliver if you order. This place has a problem with the main entrance door.
