The very best 👌 taste wise, price wise - amazing. If i could give 10 stars , I would (but max here in google is 5 . Haha)
I got lucky to be able to experience their cooking during 1 event where they had their pop up stall (and that was like a year ago- Makassar Corner did not have restaurant yet that time)
I remember during that event, after eating the food that i bought from their stall (the grilled beef) i came back to them to ask if they have restaurant ? Sadly they said no.
1 year later , i stumble accross their Facebook announcement about the opening of their own restaurant. Gosh, im so happy ! I came and ordered the same dish - the grilled beef . It still taste as good as how i had my first bite. My partner ordered beef soup. Both dishes, the beef literally melts in your mouth. So soft so tender so yummmm and big portion of meat (more than your rice! Haha even we order extra rice, we still have meat leftover that dont have rice anymore to pair up with). And total price for all of that? Mind-blowingly cheap .
I recommended to my fellow Filipino family members and friends , the next day they went there and come home with great comments. Even though not same culture, but generally food taste is so good anybody would enjoy it as...
Read moreTonight we dined at Makassar Corner, an Indonesian culinary gem, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, the aroma of authentic spices and flavors set the stage for what was to come.
The menu offered a delightful array of Indonesian dishes, each bursting with rich and unique flavors. We ordered few dishes with Sate Ayam, and the tender chicken skewers with peanut sauce were heavenly juicy. Another dish we ordered was Fried rice with ribs, the ribs was a standout, the meat was tender and the fried rice was flavourful perfectly balanced with a delightful hint of chili.
We also ordered Meatballs Soup Bakso, Beef Fried Noodles, Nasi Kuning Komplit (Yellow with fried chicken, egg, tofu), Chicken Martabak, Beef Martabak (TA), Martabak Pizza (TA), Dadar Gulung, Chicken Risoles, Es Kelapa, Es Cincau and Sosro Tea.
The service was warm and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, this place offers an authentic taste of Indonesia right here in Auckland, and we can't wait to return for another...
Read moreMy first time trying Indonesian in NZ. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I visited Makassar on a Fri night right before closing and yet the owner/manager was super nice. Not that I would hold it against anyone to be super tired before closing time :). Opted for grilled chicken smothered in a satay kinda sauce and rice with salad after asking for recommendations. Super impressed with the flavor and their small pouch of spicy sauce was bomb. Highly recommend. Also ordered a dessert-ish preparation made of a pandan leaf pancake with dessicated coconut. They were left with just 2 portions (it's 3 per order) so they cooked one more just for me. Totally in love with it (Dadar something)...it's similar to something prepared back home in India yet very SE Asian. Overall, a must visit for their food and hospitality. Cheers guys.
PS: Mine was a takeaway. Remember to remove the spicy sauce pouch before microwaving 🤣. I know someone...
