Loved having sugar cane juice overseas and really wanted to try this place out. Got a large with an extra $2 for less ice so $11 in total...price felt quite steep. It tasted amazing but the price model confused me. I felt that I had to pay extra just to get less ice and with no ice then I should be buying the $15 bottle which looked smaller. In other places there's no cost usually to have ice or no ice. And with my $2 less ice option, there still was a lot of ice! I understand now after reading other reviews/responses to reviews, that it's because the juice comes in a concentrated form. But I only understand that after bothering to read these comments. I didn't understand that in-store and I didn't ask because I just didn't know that was the reason...thought it's just an extra charge just so there is less dilution, rather than it was concentrated juice to begin with and having ice actually makes the drink better? Like maybe the drink should have been diluted in the first place as a standard option but with filtered water instead of ice? Because the ice didn't melt much and I was left with a lot. I think because of this, it makes the customer feel they're having to fork out extra money for something which should be provided in the price. And trying to understand the pricing model in-store was confusing too. Maybe the pricing and these ice options could have been...
Read moreRusi is fairly new on Dominion Road and they serve freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. They are located in the Capitol Cinema area, very close to Barilla Dumplings. They serve standard cane juice with some flavourings like lime or ginger as well as more exotic ones containing fruits and berries. They also have other interesting items like ube shake and falooda. The extreme flavours have more interesting items like pandan and they also have fresh fruit ice cream. which would be good in summer. The drink options are room temperature or iced, with either a large or small serving. I grabbed a small with no ice and it was served in a glass bottle which was interesting. The cane juice was nice and refreshing and quite a nice liquid dessert, although the other items on the menu did look more dessert worthy. There was a bench to wait for the drink but it came quite fast. Really interesting place which serves something different from the myriad of other shops on the street.
Edit tried the yakult one and that was nice. sweet with the...
Read moreI visited Rusi in April and had a delightful experience, so much so, that I have almost started going in every week! The ambience was very vibrant in the heart of Dominion Road and welcoming, with a refreshing aroma of freshly squeezed sugarcane juice in the air.
I tried their classic sugarcane juice for the first time, and it was incredibly refreshing, with just the right balance of sweetness and freshness. The best thing is that they have options if you would like chilled or not chilled - making it perfect for both hot summer days as well as winter days when you need the sugar kick in your system.
The staff were friendly and efficient, providing quick service with a smile as well as taking dietary requirements for their other options into consideration. The prices were reasonable for the quality and freshness of the juice.
Overall, Rusi Cane Juice is a fantastic spot to enjoy authentic sugarcane juice. Whether you're a longtime fan or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend...
