The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts is a true gem in Christchurch's cultural scene. From the stunning architecture to the world-class performances, this venue offers a truly unforgettable experience for music and art lovers.
The venue itself is beautiful, with a modern and sleek design that perfectly complements the city's landscape. And the performances that take place here are truly exceptional, featuring a range of talented musicians and artists from around the world.
However, it's worth noting that parking can be a bit tricky, especially during busy times. Visitors should be aware that parking is available on the road council side, but it is not free and can be limited during peak times. I recommend arriving early to allow time to find parking and avoid any stress before the performance.
Overall, The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a world-class cultural experience in Christchurch. While parking can be a challenge, the venue's exceptional performances and stunning design make it more than worth the effort. So why not book a ticket to a show today and experience it...
Read moreWe went to 'The Piano' for the 1st time recently to see comedian 'Wilson Dixon' ...he had us in fits of laughter the whole time & we thoroughly enjoyed the show ...as did the whole crowd. The theatre is spacious, modern & warm and with very comfortable seating ..which is rare to find in theatres & much appreciated when sitting for 12 hours.
The seating staff were kind & helpful and it's nice to be able to purchase a drink to take in ..not sure about the glass though ...perhaps a classy plastic version would be more practical?
Was difficult to find a park close by at that time of night (around 67pm) ..with so many restaurants near by ..even the expensive, roughly'gravellled Wilsons parking over the road was full to the brim!
All Iin all ...we look forward to our next visit to The Piano & will keep an eye out for upcoming events ...and keep.our fingers crossed that they bring back Wilson Dixon in the...
An objectively terrible photo of a truly impressive chamber concert. Calefax is a Dutch reed quintet which not only pioneered the form but have popularized it, sparking other reed ensembles in the 35 years they've been playing. The predominantly baroque instruments lend themselves extraordinarily well to arrangements of organ music, and one cannot go past Bach's canon. Their other arrangements are full of musicality and surprises. In Gershwin's An American in Paris you would think the clarinet and the saxophone would get all the glory, but Calefax surprises and entrances by giving melody lines to the oboe, bassoon, and contrabass clarinet as well. I was thoroughly entertained by such superb...
