We love this place & it has quickly become a favourite stop of ours to visit each week. A friend introduced me to buying their riggers of beer online for collection during lockdown & I fell for their hoppy Red Rye IPA, Anchor Me Hazy Pale Ale, California Dreaming malty steam ale & now their spot on Yorkshire Bitter or ESB. My partner enjoys the best Pilsner in NZ, the lighter Kolsch, Uprising blonde ale & particularly the unusual turmeric flavoured pilsner... Oh and some tasty guest beers or several tantalising gins from across NZ!
We loved it so much that we held our wedding reception here! Now it's great roomy beer shed has become the favourite regular haunt for us, accompanied by some cool live bands, musical playlists & tasty in-house food. With welcoming & considerate bar staff to polish off the experience & a cosy log fire for those cold nights, we look forward to going there every time, without fail... that said, there's always Two Thumb on Colombo as a trendy...
Read moreWent here for my birthday at the end of September with a grab one voucher for burgers. Unfortunately it was nothing short of disappointing. The venue felt thrown together (maybe that was "the vibe" they were going for, so I guess could be forgiven). We went at about 6:30pm and the kitchen (food truck) had already run out of cheese for their burgers. The beef burger lacked flavour but was fine (the sole reason this review is still 2 stars). The chicken burger however was a joke - the "southern chicken" was like a tiny, overcooked, cheap Paknsave patty, my wife didn't even want to eat it. For a $25 burger it was pretty outrageously bad. Also, the Grabone voucher claimed $57 value which was a straight-up lie as their fancy burger is not even available at the Manchester branch, so max value was $49. Granted, it's a brewery, so maybe food isn't their strong point - but we certainly won't...
Read moreFirst trip here and it’s a cool venue with a very talented artist singing live. Slight disappointment came with there being no Hazy’s on the tap selection or Sours. Did have a tasting tray and 4/5 were a hit. The big miss was the cans they offer of a local brewer. I wonder if they sampled these before offering them? especially the Ginger Beer which is undrinkable in my opinion. When asking the bartender if they had feedback on that Ginger Beer his response was that it was hit and miss and simply walked away. Where was that feedback when dropping $14 on a can that we would only have a sip of or any service/conversation when attempting to bring this up. Will try this place again but literally left with a sour taste in the mouth dropping $14 on one of the worst drinks I...
