Went to Vic's cafe this morning having bypassed a few others with my partner for breakfast. Both being very hungry we ordered eggs florentine and a big breakfast, very disappointed indeed! The big breakfast came out with the most terrible potato rosti , it was grey looking and cold and I suspect it had been microwaved. Generally these are such a lovely crispy treat, the sausage was undercooked and inedible, the bacon pretty soggy. The only thing done quite well were the poached eggs but these were hard to eat as the bread underneath was too hard (not crunchy) and was a bit of a mission to get through. My partner's meal was not much better... again the bread really hard and the mushrooms had been liberally sprinkled with some very strong dried packet herb which overwhelmed them completely. Coffee was also very average for such a busy place, my partner ate his and I ate some of mine as was starving but I took the remains up to counter. Told the staff member to look at what had been served and got a sorry and thankfully a refund, BUT as we run a couple of businesses ourselves that serve clients (not a cafe) unfortunately for Vic's Cafe, the word will be spread. The staff however though were friendly enough. What is it that saying.... you tell one person they tell 9 others.... extremely disappointed never to...
Read moreThree and a half stars. Many people gave this cafe a ton of hype and told me I just had to go. So, I did. I don't know if it was the hype or the day I went, but underwhelmed is how I can best describe my experience. The staff is friendly enough but even with a line several people deep there is no motivation to get people seated. I ordered their green energy juice which took about 7 minutes to be delivered to the table, but it was delicious and refreshing. The food was delivered to our table pretty quickly (french toast) but I was not impressed. There are several other restaurants nearby that make a fantastic french toast that I regularly go out of my way to order. I won't be back for this one mostly because it was just bland. There wasn't anything terrible about it, it just didn't stand out.
The cafe itself is charming. They have a section of bread for sale, so if you come in early you can pick up a loaf or two of freshbaked goods (looks like these go fast). Enjoy indoor or outdoor seating at wooden tables or lounge chairs. There are posters and signs on the walls featuring upcoming events and the vibe is very laid-back. Visit this place if you're in need of a caffeine pick-me-up for sure, but...
Read moreOK, ROUND TWO... Not so many mushrooms and they were dry and old.(even cooked you can tell they're old) Asked for another side to replace the old ones, more old ones came out. No grilling, oil or heat will change the consistency of rubbery old mushrooms. Staff are still cool and price all good, just consistency is important...
Simple, delicious, yum. If you're vege, the spinach is a super serving size! Comes with mushrooms and tomato too. I ate most of the mushys in the photo but trust me, there's more! I've seen the bacon and for meat eaters, I suppose it looks great! 🤣 There was a queue but it moves quick and you see why everyone comes here for food. The afghans are massive! My breakfast came out super quick and the team works in a very friendly and efficient way. Fabulous eggs on home made bread!!...
