Daikoku Takapuna — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

Went for lunch with family and a few kids. The chef was great, the food was great. Its the wait staff that was unprofessional and rude. We ordered pawn tempura, asked how many pieces it has, the waitress said 6 pieces. The tempura came. 5 pieces. We asked about it. We got ignored..... the place was not busy. So me and the 2 kids started eating. Turns out it only has 4 pawn tempura and one vegetable. We asked the waitress about it... she picked up the vege tempura with her fingers (no gloves or anything) and took it into the kitchen. She said nothing is wrong with the dish and she wanted to hand me back the piece of food.. that she has been holding with her fingers. I asked for a fresh one.. she gave me the evils. While I was feeding the kids... my dishes (with food still on it).. got collected... along with my kids spoons I brought from home. We literally got booted out. .. abit...

Went on the 27/12/23 for dinner and had such a great experience and great food here. Our food was so so fresh. We ordered the Daikoku meal set with crayfish and wagyu. The chef had cooked all our seafood so perfectly, as well as our vegetable side dishes. The price point was very fair too considering the quality of meat and seafood. My husband and I were full and I took home the rest of my steak home. They were also very accomodating for everyone’s dietary needs and preferences. The family before us did not eat red meats so they requested the chef cook our red meats last so that there would be no cross contamination with their seafood dishes and the staff were so accomodating and understanding 👍🏽 Didn’t manage to catch our chefs name but he did mention he was from Indonesia, so thanks to the chef for making our experience at Daikoku very warm and welcoming.
