Food - Curry was not warm (it's not difficult to microwave something). The potato was still cold inside & the whole top of the dish was cool as if it had been sitting out in the cold instead of under a warming light. The bowl was warmer at the end of my meal than the start, meaning the already not hot enough food was put into a cold bowl that sucked all the heat out of it. Yes I could've asked for it to be re-(properly) heated , but that's not the point.
As for the flavour of the curry - when bushfire first opened it was AMAZING curry. I recommended it to all my friends. Since then it has totally changed and is worse each time. The mutton is tender, but its clearly not browned at the start so it ends up being insipid. Hamilton has a ton of great curries, but this is below average.
Also, I find it bizarre that a South African restaurant doesn't offer a single South African wine?? Some of the best in the world, and the classic South African Pinotage is a perfect pairing for meat dishes. Hamilton Beer & Wine has at least 6 different Pinotages listed at very reasonable prices.
The spur-style onion rings are great!
Service - the staff are clearly stressed & busy, and they are trying. But they are also good at keeping their eyes down when working the floor. I needed to walk up to the bar to order something despite staff being in and out of the area.
Atmosphere - music not to my taste, but it is what is played on afrikaans radio stations I suppose. It wasn't intrusively loud.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bushfire Bar and Grill and I must say, it was a truly unique and enjoyable experience.
The atmosphere of the restaurant immediately transported me back to South Africa with its warm and cozy decor. The walls were adorned with beautiful art and the music playing in the background added to the overall ambiance.
And the food, which was the real star of the show. Oh my Goodness!!! The menu offered a variety of traditional South African dishes and I opted for the Mixed Grill.
The standout of the dish was that it was a selection of grilled meats including boerewors sausage, lamb chop Ribs and a quarter chicken. Each meat was cooked to perfection added on the side was Chips and onion rings..
Aside from the delicious food, what really stood out to me was the nostalgia that came with each dish. From dom Pedros to Crumbed Mushrooms to Garlic snails to Peri Peri chicken livers to pap and sous and many more....It added a extra touch of nostalgia to the dining experience and made me appreciate the food even more.
Overall, I highly recommend Bushfire Bar and Grill to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. The food, atmosphere, and hospitality make for a memorable and enjoyable meal. I will definitely be returning to try more of their...
Read moreThis honestly rates as one of the worst restaurants I have been to and there have been many all over the World. The service was friendly a but we waited for an unbelievably long time even to get the glass of wine we ordered to say nothing of the wait for the food which was extremely second rate. The plating was unattractive and the food was cold. I am not sure what on the menu was South African because to my eyes it seemed very ordinary pub food. Honestly I have never been in a noisier atmosphere. I couldn't hear my partner or the wait staff speak over the background noise. You must delete all the criticism of Bushfire Bar and Grill or only have friends and family writing the reviews because it certainly comes nowhere near to the glowing reviews...
