The Local Taphouse — Restaurant in Hamilton

Ok so never going to this place ever. So four of us girls decided we are going for some ciders and food on a Wednesday evening around 6pm . As soon as we enter there is this guy (staff) behind the counter looking at us in awestruck and rolling his eyes and the instant vibe he gave was not welcoming, so we went towards a table and I asked him if it’s ok we sit around the corner table , he just nodded his head and no response was given ,no acknowledgement was given even we had to go and ask for some cups and water which we don’t mind and the they were empty they had people only on two tables . Anyway moving on we do not get given a menu so we go ask for that as well and than we can still sense the guy behind the counter was still not giving us welcoming vibes, which I found very rude,so we decided we wanted to go elsewhere from there, but we were keen on bowling later so we thought let’s order food and drinks there ,why ruin our vibe for a staff who’s being rude and felt not getting a pay rise or something. So me and my friend we went to the counter to order drinks and food and this guy asks for our IDS 🪪 and I said I have been here before and no one ever asked for IDS and all of a sudden you asking for a ID, he responded back that you guys look under 25s. I said we currently don’t have it on us as we never get asked and this is the first time at this place you are asking for ID and we have it on our phones. He is like no I need the actual ID. I was like thank you for the compliment and we left from that place instantly. I don’t know what the problem was he was judging us because we looked under 25s and dint wanted to serve us because it would only increase his work and he dint want to be there or something or he was judging us due to our ethnicity because nobody else got asked for a ID and they did not have any signs that only under 25s will not be served ciders and none of us was under 25. We have been here quiet a lot, this is a great place to go out to especially on a Saturday evening to night but unfortunately the stuff on Sat nights can be lacking with customer service, their is always one stuff member that stands out who gives exceptional customer service, believe she could be the duty manager on Sat nights, she takes our drink order and meal order within a good time after we have arrived we see her telling her co workers to greet or take the orders at tables that are waiting every time were here. Representing good George it would be great if the staff knew anything about the brews they have, I asked about the brews because I do know good George brews and I'm eager to know about something new they had on tap they had no clue which wasn't very impressive. I believe with better hospitality and knowledge of the good George brews from a few of the regular stuff here would make an experience one of a kind for sure especially on Saturday nights.. We went to the local taphouse for lunch last Sunday 27/3/22. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. For starters we waited three quarters of an hour to an hour for our food and it wasn't that busy. When our food did arrive it was not what I would say was worth the wait. The batter was really hard around the fish and when you did get to the fish it was hard and dry. The burger bun was soggy and the egg was really over cooked and to some degree burnt. I also received a very small portion of half cooked chips. We ordered the side dish, the bacon and cheese chips. This looked like it was just thrown together and not very warm. The fish appeared to of been cooked in old used by date oil. In fact the whole meal was not hot, just slightly warm. The only positive things I will say is that we received friendly service from the lady at the bar when ordering drinks that day.
