I used to swear by Peach's Hot Chicken. But because they're so far away in Panmure, I was yet to find a replacement in West Auckland that's neither KFC nor Texas Chicken as I don't rate either of them. My uncle introduced me to this place literally under my nose which I've never heard of - Ziggle. I tried it for the first time today, and all I can say is, move over Peach's Hot Chicken, I'm covered with Ziggle's fried chicken! I ordered the boneless Crispy Southern Style and boy was it tasty and scrumptious! The outside was super crunchy and the inside was juicy and moist, just the way I like it. The size was pretty good too. I am definitely coming back to try their Korean chicken flavours, their burgers and their fries. They all look delicious. To top it up, the manager was super friendly and patiently explained to me the different flavours. I initially thought this was going to be a small place, but to my surprise, there was a good number of tables and seating. This is my new favourite fried chicken place in New Zealand. Tried Ziggle after seeing all the glowing reviews and had high hopes, but sadly it didn’t live up to the hype for us.

We ordered the Beef Bulgogi Loaded Fries, Ziggle’s Chicken Burger, Southern Crunch Burger, Onion Rings, and Boneless Southern Style Fried Chicken. The “Beef” Bulgogi Fries had no beef! What we assumed were beef strips turned out to be mushrooms — no heads-up on the menu, and for a beef dish, that’s a big miss.

The Boneless Southern Style Fried Chicken didn’t hit the mark either — the coating had this overwhelming single spice note (couldn’t even tell what it was), and overall it just felt off and underseasoned.

The Chicken Burgers were decent — edible but not memorable. Just your standard burger, nothing that made us say “wow” or want to come back for them.

Only saving grace? The Onion Rings. Super crispy, golden, and actually delicious — the only thing I’d recommend. Might have just been an off day, but based on what we had, we were disappointed. Would love to see some consistency...
