Hancock's Cafe — Restaurant in Howick

Very good coffee but as they don't have mugs which I find keeps the coffee hot longer than the big bowls we have ours in takeaway cups. Food, ovely stuff, Variety are all nice you will find in at the over probably 200 cafes, I find everything, some of friendlist and well trained staff again in New Zealand or overseas (I have travelled in my life to more than 21 plus countries) which always adds to the enjoyment of visiting a Cafe, plus clean and tidy quickly as people leave which is great training and attitude. The apple slice is always extra yummy as good as Holland- Netherlands, I have 100 percent Dutch ancestory, but born in New Zealand. They have lots of selection in the front cabinets plus a great menu and huge range of drinks, for every family and really kids friendly. went to this cafe over the weekend for breakfast. first the review on the cafe itself - plenty of tables. in fact i believe they have the biggest floor space of any cafe in old howick. hence, easy to get a table, just walk right it. it's warm and cosy inside (definitely a plus during these cold autumn mornings) now the review on the food - when my egg benny arrived, the plate was cold (which chilled the food within minutes). salmon looked supiciously browny, ciabatta bread was soggy and really really really oily. the eggs themselves were overcooked. berry pancake is much better. warm plate, berry taste like real berries (and not too sweet), pancake served in good portions. white hot chocolate tasted too milky and not enough chocolate. overrall, prices are reasonable. but egg benny was a REAL letdown. we definitely don't...

Very nice Cafe. Food is great. Presentation of food is great. Coffee is very good. Lovely Customer service. You can see the Effort put into cooking the food & the flavours, simple yet effective. This cafe reminds me of the old days when cafes actually took pride in there food & service.

Oh but the pigeons outside eating for free. Hahaha....lucky pigeons

Went to this Cafe again because the first time was great! But unfortunately the 2nd time wasn't so great. They are not consistent. I ordered the same meal both times, first time was great. Couple days later i ordered the same meal unfortunately it was terrible. Why can't cafes just be consistent. So annoying!
