Update: Went for a breakfast today. TOTAL OPPOSITE of our wonderful experience from our dinner the other day. I understand there's a training going on for a new staff but the TRAINOR must teach properly. NO WATER offered. We are told to order on the counter (that's okay), even though the rest after us are all table order. I also think it is inappropriate to assume of having to be served at the pokie machine since my partner is checking it out while I ordered. Never in my life will I intend to have my brekkie infront of the machine. We already have chosen a table prior to ordering where I put my jacket on the chair. Kind of it was a very rushed service since a training is going on??? She explained about the food being served at the machine or any table TWICE! Lose my appetite altogether and ended up with my partner having my breakfast. Piece of advice: Attention to details and never assume of something that is not your business.
Dinner last 17/11/22:Great dine in place to go to while in Picton. We ordered the seafood chowder with garlic bread. The chowder is not too creamy but...
Read moreTried to book into other places in picton but couldn't get in, decided to try The Barn. A bit sceptical as not very many people dining and they weren't booked out. Also there was only 1 lady running the front of house, seating people, waiting tables, pouring the drinks at the bar etc, and she mentioned there was only one man in the kitchen! We did dine early with kids, about 5.30 and by the time we left the place was humming. However our expectations were exceeded, she was awesome and the chef delivered. I had the burger which was a perfect size and perfectly cooked. Not like one of those massive burgers that are impossible to get your mouth around. My wife had the roast of the day and said it was amazing. Kids hotdog and chips were a perfect size and well cooked. Lacking a bit of ambience but other than that highly...
Read moreWe first went to the Barn for lunch. The staff was extremely welcoming and warm. We had the soup of the day and fish of the day. The soup was well made with bread rightly toasted with butter and herbs. The fish of the day was butter fish. The fish was excellent with a bit crisp on the outside and juicy inside. It was served with fresh garden salad, fries and sauce. We had the home made sticky date pudding that was served warm with perfect sauce, ice cream and creams. Excellent portions. The fire is an old fire which keeps it super warm. The place is decorated with beautiful everyday items of the 70s and 80s. We loved the place that we booked a table for dinner. Highly recommend the roast of the day. Over all a...
