Had a fantastic breakfast here while in Picton. The café has a warm and inviting vibe with a nice mix of wood features and cosy seating both indoors and outdoors. Sitting by the window or outside gives you a lovely view of the street and surrounding hills which is a really nice way to start the day. The food was excellent. I had a full breakfast with poached eggs, bacon, sausages, roasted potatoes and toast. Everything was well cooked, fresh and full of flavour. The portion size was generous and very satisfying. Coffee was smooth and paired perfectly with the meal. Staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming which made the experience even better. The café is clean and well kept and the location is convenient with easy access from the main street. Highly recommend stopping here if you are in Picton for breakfast, lunch or just a good coffee.

We visited Gusto on a busy day when two cruise ships were in town, so it was understandably bustling. There was a huge line, and all the seats inside and most outside were taken. Despite the crowd, we decided to grab some coffee, and I must say, the coffee was quite good! It’s clearly a popular spot, judging by the crowd. The interior is quite small, and the outdoor seating under the roof wasn’t ideal—it’s near the bathroom, so you can catch some unpleasant smells if seated close to the door. However, the tables further out on the street seemed like a better option. Overall, Gusto serves excellent coffee. Didn’t get a change to try out the food but it looked good.

Attended for brunch on New Year’s Day. Was busy because other cafes were closed. But the service was friendly and the food came out relatively quickly considering how busy they were. It was an average breakfast meal, but there were inconsistencies with the portion sizes from plate to plate. Throughout the group, more than half of the poached eggs were over cooked. Drink options were limited and there was a surcharge for New Year’s Day, which was higher than other places I’ve attended on a public holiday. Would return to try the lunch menu another time because it looks promising.

I’m absolutely appalled by this places behaviour and encourage you all not to dine there based on my experience. I was having breakfast around 10am when all of a sudden I heard a gentleman in a loud voice behind the counter addressing a tourist not to use their water tap to refill his waters bottle in front of the other people dining there. The young tourist sheepishly walked away after being berated at the counter . It wasn’t the fact that I agree or disagree with the tourist using their water, but bare in mind it is a tourist hotspot and being welcoming should be a given. What was also appalling was after he left, the three staff members stood behind the counter and talked loudly about what just happened and rubbished the tourist so we all could hear. About a few minutes later, one of the staff member came close to where we were sitting to clear away dirty dishes, I approached her and said that the way this was handled was appalling and that it should have been handled better. She turned around and said well he didn’t buy anything from us. I told this staff member I’m embarrassed to be a kiwi if you treat visitors like this to which she replied well you don’t sound like a kiwi which only made me more dumbfounded of what just happened and the attitude of the cafe towards its customers. I encourage anyone visiting Picton to be selective of dine where you are treated...

Subject: Unpleasant Experience at Your Cafe in Picton

While I must commend the exceptional quality of your food, the experience was marred by the unfortunate behavior of two staff members at the counter.

Upon receiving my coffee order with the wrong milk, I politely approached the counter to request a correction, and I was met with raised voices and an unwarranted attitude. I was willing to pay for any inconvenience caused, but the response I received was both unprofessional and unnecessary.

The lack of customer service skills and the insistence on blaming us for a potential miscommunication were disheartening. It is essential to address such incidents promptly, as they reflect poorly on your establishment. Moreover, the sarcastic laughter and dismissive attitude when I offered to pay for the corrected coffee were wholly inappropriate.

I appreciate the apology from one of the waitresses who mentioned that the staff members were stressed. While I empathize with workplace stress, it should not be an excuse for mistreating customers. I believe a more customer-centric approach and effective communication skills are crucial in ensuring a positive dining...

Absolutely disgusting attitude and service would highly recommend not to visit. My partner and I ordered a coffee from gusto and they were very bitter. We never complain but this time the coffees were undrinkable and we decided to ask for another one. My partner very kindly said to the barista that the coffee is bitter and he raised his voice immediately and told her that she was only person to complain this week (bear in mind it is only a Tuesday). He then very aggressively asked "well what do you want? Do you want another one? Because I'll do one and that's it then your gone". My partner was so taken back by this, as she hates confrontation and it was really worried taking the coffees back in the first place. When my partner was walking back to her table the owner then yelled in front of the whole cafe "this is the only one your getting". I can't believe someone could be so rude especially when the coffee was returned in the nicest way possible. A young girl then came out an apologise and it was horrible to see how embarrassed she was....
