Bad experienceβ¦used to be my favourite restaurant for breakfast in town. We took our brother who came from overseas to NZ. We wanted to show him how great this place was with pretty good service and yummy food. However, we left with an unpleasant experience. We ordered our meal and took very long time to arrive. We could see people who arrived later having their meals first. I talked to one of the adult waitresses and told her about this. She asked me if we did the order priorly. I said of course we did. Waited but never got our coffees. We asked the other 2 kids and a waiter who were also working there and they said that our coffees were on the way, but they never arrived. We finished part of the meal we had and then we got the other part of the meal but never received the coffees. Went down there to ask for a refund and realised they did not even have our coffees on the list. They refund our money and apologised but still it wasnβt a good experience. We asked to 4 different people but no one helped. If you donβt have enough staff to serve to your clients you should have a limit of clients entering the place so you donβt over stress your people and you can still providing a good service. I donβt think Iβm coming...

We ordered 4 adult sized breakfasts and 2 Children's sized, and while we waited the kids were entertained with a box of toys (excellent toys also, we all wanted to have a play with the mini snooker table!)....but we didn't have to wait long! We had the Big Breakfast (A fav of mine, wherever we go) but requested a side of hollandaise sauce (pro tip!). The eggs were poached to perfection, and the mushrooms were delicious, firm yet tasty. The bacon could have been crispier, but I bet if I had requested that, it would have been done. My wife had the eggs benne, as she is wont to do, and I didn't hear a peep out of her for 10 minutes...a great sign of a happy lady. The kids had pancakes (even though they weren't on the menu! Bravo!) and were happy with their lot, as was I when I assisted in the finishing of the aforementioned pancakes as the serving was generous. A breakfast...

I must say that the service was amazing, super friendly and the lovely ladies asked us a couple of times if everything was ok which was really nice, very attentive. The venue is lovely, plenty of seating downstairs, a few spots outside and all upstairs is a larger seating area with bi-fold windows that open up, which was lovely on a hot summers day. They have an area for kids to play in, which is a nice touch. The iced coffees were nice and creamy and delicious. The sausage roll was ok. I loved the curry flavor to it, but the pastry was slightly undercooked on the bottom but still ok. One other thing I could suggest is that instead of serving the chutney in a plastic container, just add to the plate or put it in a little white plate to make the dish look more presentable. We enjoyed sitting upstairs looking out, and we wish the new owners...
