If there was a 0 star I'd rate it no star out of 5. Unwelcoming from the beginning, never experienced such poor customer service. Particularly from the lady, she was very rude. I asked for Sweet and Sour with rice ($10) but got Sweet and Sour without rice ($15) I didn't get rice, I get charged $5 extra for not saying with rice when I did point to the menu. I feel cheated. I even asked if I could order extra rice with this and she disregarded it, I didn't persist. Our dumplings which meant to come with 12, came out 11. We got our one missing dumpling with wait but no soy sauce. Who has steamed dumplings without soy sauce, I didn't even want to raise this to her anymore as I felt this continuous streak of faults and bad vibes I received from her was just intolerable. She practically chucked our meals on the table. My friend and I tried to remain polite and thanked her, she would not acknowledge us. Meanwhile while serving food to others of her own ethnicity she was smiling away placing their meals on the tables like they should be. We both felt rudely treated as customers. The meals were tasteless, the noodles were especially plain. My two minute noodles taste better than what they served up. I feel like I wasted my money. This is my first rate and review (obviously look how long this has got to) Having worked in a restaurant this is ridiculous, it's unjust and such a huge disappointment, left feeling...
Read moreNEGATIVES: I rarely give bad reviews, but unfortunately I had to post this, in hope that someone else doesnt go through similar experience. Paid $18 for 3 bbq meats and rice (which is standard imo). Portion size is 👌. My disappointment, is the food. It was taken off the display hook (which was cold at the time) and cut up, then put into the microwave🤦🏾♂️. The place wasn't busy for a Friday night, so I shouldve seen that as a red flag. As expected the food was dry, cold in some areas and didnt make me want to finish it 😔. Maybe this is a better place for lunch, but my experience for food here, was negative.
POSTIVES: Reasonably priced. Lovely family atmosphere and service.
Just disappointed tonight, didnt do justice.

First time trying Kongs Kitchen! We ordered a wonton noodle soup and duck on rice. Wow. Everything was beautiful! So affordable and delicious! Wonton noodle soup: the best in Onehunga. Period. Broth is clear as it should be and tastes like something that will heal your soul. Slightly peppery and full of depth. The wontons were delicious! Very fresh porky flavour and the noodles were super bouncy and chewy, not soggy at all!!! Duck on rice: absolutely delicious. Duck was served with white rice, cabbage and drizzled over with a beautiful sauce.
I wish I had taken a photo before I ate but i literally inhaled the food as soon as it arrived
My new fave spot! I wish I knew about this...
