CUSTOM CUTZ BARBERS — Local services in North Island

Not impressed with the service, especially when I paid $40. Avoid this business at all cost.

Background: Got a hair cut done last Thursday, hoping I would get a good barber that knows what they doing. Unfortunely that was not the case. While they were cutting my hair, I started getting a gut feeling that the person is not competent enough to do what I've asked them to do.

When I got home, I looked at the mirror and straight away knew that the cut turned out to be bad. The fade was not consistent and the top was not even. On top of that, there were other things that I am not even going to bother to mention.

Lucky enough the bro from Studio36 The Gentleman's Barber managed to salvage and fix the my "custom cut" into something that I asked for and looks presentable.

So, my beard was getting a bit too out of hand and I desperately needed a good trim, shape and neaten! Coming from South Africa I had my go to Barber all the time but leaving SA and coming to NZ left me searching for a good Barber!

As you all know, that's not easy, especially to trust someone with your well earned growth and patients after nurturing that beast on your face!

That's why I trust and Jemma (sorry for the spelling) who did my beard as a walk-in! She was on point! Welcoming, understood what I was looking for, saw the pick I showed her of what I was aiming for and did exactly that!

I walked in during the week, at 08:50 or so and had the well needed treatment I was searching for and around a small $20 later, I was clean and ready for the week!

They have an app. They'll tell you and everyone else that walks in that they have an app, to book a seat and choose a haircut through the app, and they'll get annoyed at YOU like you're being the difficult one. Some dude walked in and asked how long for a haircut... "The app will tell you", poor dude was so confused!

While I was navigating their on-site touchscreen (I was setting up a buzz cut), the barber comes over like "let me help you, you want a haircut right? Yeahyouwantahaircuttakeaseatoverthere" and changes my buzz cut choice to a more expensive option, but he's already ushering me to the seat so I felt pressured to go with it anyway...

Good haircut, but terrible, slightly shady...
