We were driving from Auckland to the Far North in our Campervan and planned to stop at the Whangarei visitor centre…. But , Oh No! The cafe was closed, so we headed into the town basin as we needed lunch for our daughter’s & we were short on time. We spied this cafe & there was parking for the Campervan right outside. Yay! We went inside…. Ohhh… what is this? A lunch bar that also does hair cuts?! How strange… we reviewed the food offerings… some sausage rolls and pies that had been sitting in the warmer (clearly for a while) and some dried up sandwiches in the cabinet. There is no plates or cutlery or even serviettes supplied, unless you ask & having a view of the hairdressing shop in the corner made for quite a bizarre lunch experience. (Is this ok for food health standards?) After we left & our daughter threw up sausage roll in the Campervan we thought that was an appropriate review & we shared her sentiment. We will try & avoid Early bird lunch bar in the future, perhaps as the name suggests it is better in the early morning? We won’t be back...
