We recently had The Wayward Italian cater our small wedding in Whangarei, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Mattias, the owner, was incredibly friendly and easy-going, which helped make our day even more special.

The pizzas were absolutely fantastic - cooked to perfection with delicious toppings that were simply divine. Mattias was able to pump out the pizzas quickly, ensuring that all of our guests could enjoy them around the same time.

What we loved most about The Wayward Italian was the simplicity and quality of their offerings. It was the perfect fit for our intimate wedding, but we can definitely see how it would work just as well for a larger event.

Matthias fed 170 of our guests for a 40th on Saturday.

He was prompt, easy to deal with and his pizzas were absolutely delicious. There were so many comments about how great they tasted. He made continuous pizzas for almost 3 hours. Everyone was well and truely full and he left a stack of boxed pizzas for later in the evening.

We needed a few gluten free options and that was simple and easy to sort and they were made hot for the guests when they arrived.

He was reasonably priced, highly recommend him and we will definitely have him back to cater future events.

Matthias catered for our wedding (with around 65 guests) in February 2025 in Waipu. The whole experience was absolutely seamless - Matthias helped to make it a perfect day.
