Mokaba Cafe is beautifully placed in an scenic position in Whangārei Marina at the idilic town basin. The outdoor area is sheltered with roll up clears allowing shelter from the wind and rain, when rolled up clearing the way for a cooling breeze. Indoors is well laid out, spacious, comfortable and relaxing.
The menu caters for most tastes and dietary needs. The display cabinet proudly shows off its delicious appearing selection of delicacies that would have no trouble tempting customers to have a bite if only coming in for a coffee.
I made the mistake of ordering an iced coffee not realising it would come sweet. Concerned about my sugar diet I was prepared to buy a sugar free drink and leave the the iced coffee (which tasted delicious).
The staff were marvelous and exchanged free of charge instead, which prompted me to leave this review. The staff are engaging, helpful and very friendly.
Highly recommend as an all round 5 star cafe for all the right reasons !!!
Keep up the amazing work to make this place a great casual dining experience Mokaba Cafe !!! 🙂 And...
Read moreIn my opinion this cafe has gone way down hill. Today I ordered poached eggs, hash browns and bacon. Was kind of disappointed to be served undercooked whole grain bread toast from a plastic supermarket packet, frozen hash browns which felt refried as the were so fatty. The bacon was inoffensive enough, the eggs were runny which was good. Only condiment or extra on the plate was a small plate of what appeared to be watties tomato sauce. Fellow diner ordered the hash ‘stack’ - which consisted of 2 processed hash browns , a small amount of bacon and barely a quarter of an avocado with one poached egg on top. Presentation was non existent and it was the smallest hash stack we had ever seen. Wish I had taken some photos. It’s just very disappointing to spend reasonable money on a meal that is better at home without even trying. They used to make much better food. 3 stars is me not trying to...
Read moreHere for the first time to try the breakfast. The reason i choose this one is because they are the only cafe served with French toast on the menu at waterfront. As huge fan/expert of the French toast, i have to say that it is total failure. I try worse for sure but this one is not any better. Bacon overcooked dry like jerky. same as french toast itself. only thing pick up is variety of fruit. Another lost point is the price of coffee is way over priced for a person like me drinking coffee 2-3 coffee per day in Auckland 7.XX dollars for large coffee is way too dear. coffee quality is quite standard, not really stand out to be honest. I was going to give 1 star for the price and food. but i decided to give 2 stars is because the customer service is awesome!! We are the tourists from Auckland, but the waiter has give us some great advices on where to visit in local....
