Fox's Hawker House & Garden — Restaurant in North Island

Wow, this is a really neat treat for all dinners. Honest, everything in our experience was 5+. If you want something different, and fabulous at the same time, then make sure you visit.

Our host was so friendly, such a bubbly personality. She introduced us to the menu options, answering all our questions and offering plenty of advice and suggestions. Then we selected the stone grill as it sounded like fun.

We chose the 4 meat option which came with fillets of beef and lamb, along with salmon and shrimp. This comes with vege to cook and a yummy salad. Also included are three sauces to cook with and add flavour as required. Then comes the piping hot stone to cook on, and away you go. You can cook things exactly as you like. No one else to blame but yourself. LOL.

It was such a social experience and alot of fun.

The menu options are extensive, as is the drinks menu, and with just a wonderful atmosphere, I can only recommend this restaurant as being a place for a wonderful night out.

Absolutely delicious vege bento box! Table service was quick as was food to the table (dined at around 5pm on a Friday). Happy to see quite a few vegan options for starters through to mains. We sat in the outside courtyard and the only issue is the seagulls absolutely decimating the leftover food on the table next to us. It happened within seconds of the diners leaving the table however it took around 7 min for wait staff to clear the table and in conversation with them they do try to clear the outside tables as quickly as possible. I probably wouldn’t dine outside again bc of the grossness with which this big flock of birds destroyed the plates. I’m mildly concerned at the cleaning method after the birds. I would hope the cloth used to wipe and disinfect the table is not used on another table. But overall a great spot to dine -...

I visited last night with my family in a large group. We had booked a table over the phone, but when we arrived it seemed our booking had not gone through. The staff member at the bar let us know she could not seat us, but the way it was communicated felt quite defensive and uncomfortable even though we weren’t harsh on her. We were only trying to figure out whether we should stay or leave, so it made the situation a little stressful as she just wanted us to leave.

We checked our call history and confirmed we had the right number, so it looks like the booking was simply missed. I completely understand that things like this can happen, especially on busy days, but the way we were spoken to left us feeling embarrassed.
