Booked a function here, and had hired a space with two pool tables, bar tab, food etc. The staff member who I booked through said she would be there on the night as the Manager On Duty, and to see her if there was any problems. Everything was also paid for and booked a week prior.
On the night of the function the staff member I booked through was nowhere to be seen.
The area I had booked had not been cordoned off as discussed, and there was only 1 small sign showing guests and others that this was a private area.
Staff made no effort to stop others using our space or tables, also the food was meant to be served at 8:30pm, it did not arrive until 9:30pm after having to tell the extremely rude bar staff multiple times. I had to personally ask other people who were not part of our function to move to a different part of the bar, and to keep track of what food had and hadn't been served as staff did not communicate with any of us about what was going on until asked.
The functions organiser in particular was very rude and had the cheek to sware at me when asked what was happening with the food. Also one bartender in particular who was working that night was very rude also.

They had lots of beer taps, all working, and even put an alcoholic ginger beer on at my request. Since I was spending about $3,000, I signed up for the Star Rewards to collect the points. I was particularly impressed when I returned to the venue and was able to get a voucher for $300 on my points (redeemable at any Star Group venue). I can't recall the names of all the staff who helped but thanks to Dixie and Maeve who helped me with the voucher. Some constructive feedback for Star Group: the function space is let down badly by the old 4:3 projector, a VGA connector, and laptop with Windows 7 (considering Windows 8 was available in 2012, this feedback ought to come as something as an embarrassment to Star Group and is otherwise inconsistent with the good quality of service we received). She served us with a scowl on her face while wearing a pair of antlers. She knocked one of the straws out of the drink and onto the table and walked away without a word. Our server quickly took our order and disappeared unail after the meal was finished. Another server wearing a scowl served us our dinner. The fried chicken sandwich was literally burnt to a piece of charcoal and when we brought it to the server's attention, she walked away without a word. We weren't sure if they were going to fix it and we had to hunt her down to ask. She dropped off another chicken breast wearing her apparently permanent frown.
