I have not been to KK for years but decided to go there as we are craving for curry laksa and heard that they serve best curry laksa in town. When we arrived, they were pretty busy with takeaway and we decided to wait until the counter was cleared and approached the lady to ask for table of 2. Then, she pointed us to sit in a table that has not been cleaned and we just waited near the table firs hoping that it will be cleaned straight away. However, she said that we can sit down first then she would clean the table when she “had the time”. We followed her instructions and took a look on the menu that she gave us. While I was reading the menu, she stood beside me and she said excuse me while pointing at the dirty glasses on the table. I have not been asked like that when I dined in restaurants so I was pretty confused at that time. Then, the guy wiped the table for us (the lady also wiped our table after that and we told her nicely that the guy has wiped the table), gave us water and took our order. We ordered 2 curry laksa (+ roti) and specifically ordered one with less noodle. Then, the lady served the first laksa and we asked whether the laksa that she served was the one with less noodle or the regular one. However, we did not hear her response as she either mumbled or spoke in a very low volume and she just walked away. Few second later, the guys served us another laksa then we asked him that which he had to confirm with the lady. Then, the lady replied that she already told us that the laksa that she served was the one with less noodle. The food were decent and the guy was quite pleasant but after the service that we got from the lady, we will never come back...
Read moreNothing was ok, neither the food nor the service. I tasted the Chicken Sambal, that should be, according to the menu, boneless chicken pieces cooked in sweet and sour chilli sauce, served with steamed rice. Actually, it was a plate of fried chicken put in a cheap sweet and sour sauce and, in addition, the fried chicken seemed to be recycled, beeing fluffy and grasy. For me I ordered a Vegetarian Curry, that should be, according to the menu, mixed vegetables in creamy curry, served with steamed rice. This plate was anything but creamy: vegetables were simply seared and put in a curry-water (I can't say it was a sauce). I asked for an hot spicy meal (really Malaysian style) but my plate was actually mild spicy. Luckily in Malaysia I didn't eat anything similar. Even the service was bad: First of all they asked us to pay before our dinner and second we were two people and even if the restaurant was not busy (only other 2 persons), the two plates arrived with 5-10 minutes between one and the...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by a friend who liked the curry laksa so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the curry laksa noodles, chow kueh teow and the fried tofu as the starter. The char kueh teow had good flavour and was one of the good ones so far we've tried in Wellington. Curry laksa was also good, fairly spicy but disappointed that they used surimi (fake crab meat). Probably why it's such a cheap meal. Fried tofu with bean sprouts was delicious but could do with a little more tofu for the price. We were pleasantly surprised by how fast we got our dishes, the first one came in less than 10 minutes and we got everything in about 15. Overall, we had a pleasant dinner for $27 and enjoyed it more than some of posh...
