We were a party of 8 who visited The Sterling Friday evening April 14th. We could not have been more impressed. We had traveled from Auckland for a weekend exploring the Waihi area and our evening at the Sterlng was the highlight of our visit. A friendly greeting met us as soon as we walked through the front door. The atmosphere was so relaxing, comfortable couches and a big coffee table allowed a group like us to chat and unwind.The tap beers included Guinness! The house wines were very reputable and well priced. The dinner menu was amazingly extensive and every meal was delicious and very well presented..well done to the chef and supporting team! Read moreCalled in for lunch today, & unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience. My husband had mussel fritters which were missing the mussels, totally undercooked & inedible (& he loves his seafood). I had the salt & pepper squid, it was cooked perfectly however the seasoning was non existent. The salad tasted old & had no dressing on it and the battered fish left a lot to be desired, even the chips were unpleasant. Only positive was the coffee and garlic bread.
